Continuing a great week of music for me, I was able to see Ra Ra Riot live a couple nights ago. I'll preface this by saying Ra Ra Riot has been a favorite band of mine since their album The Rhumb Line hit stores. The band's unique string driven sound, led by violinist Rebecca Zeller and cellist Alexandra Lawn, certainly sets this band apart from similar indie-acts. Frontman Wes Miles also bring...

Chamber Pop champions Ra Ra Riot are coming to town again (does this make 3 times in less than a year?) to promote their elegantly melancholic Rhumb Line album. This time, however, not only are they are playing our favorite local venue, the good folks at The Granada have given us a couple of pairs of tickets to pass along to the loyal SubEx masses.Wanna see Ra Ra Riot for free? Oft in our virtual world of emails, chats, blogs, social networks and platforms, it's easy to mistake anonymous screen names and avatars for the actual able body and minded beings behind them. Akin to that all-truism, a random gem brings a collective smörgåsbord of brilliantly like minded individuals together. And so is/was the case as of 8:34PM EST on Monday, August 17, 2009.Before diving in, .

As I said in my post about Princeton, the crowd was jammed pack for both Maps and Atlases and Ra Ra Riot.I actually didn’t realize Maps and Atlases were playing until the day of the show and I didn’t get a chance to listen to their stuff going on. All I knew is that I [...]Related posts:Princeton At Lee’s Palace in Toronto – Sept 11 On a sold out night with scalpers outside asking for...NX

Ra Ra Riot have been making quite some noise over the last couple of years. They toured relentlessly in 2006 and 2007 with bands such as Tokyo Police Club and Editors and this year they released their epic and ambitious debut album The Rhumb Line to a fair amount of acclaim.
I seriously need a camera with a functioning LCD screen or viewfinder Even with sold-out shows at the Bowery and MHOW, Ra Ra Riot still delivers in the same way they did when I first saw them open for Tokyo Police Club back in April 2007. What immediately caught my attention back then was how much energy they brought to the small stage at Mercury Lounge, and the energy continues to be the ...
Ra Ra Riot - The Rhumb Line (Barsuk ) Few albums took me by surprise as much as this one did. What I suspected would be a solid pop record turned out to be one of the best pop records I had heard in ages, not a single song which is not outstanding. The Syracuse band's first on Barsuk is the sort of thing I imagine lots of young bands will be listening to in 2018 and taking their cues from. ...
Ra Ra Riot and the director Taryn Gould set up in the attic of a house in Syracuse, NY to film some videos you might have seen out on the web lately. We've got the last in the series. You can find the others on P4K , Stereogum and Brooklyn Vegan . Bonus: The band also recently stopped through our Pop Machine studio and recorded some choice new tracks from their new album The Rhumb...
Photo by Frank YangMost things I've read about Ra Ra Riot seem to reference Arcade Fire, and this perplexes me. Yes, I see the superficial and quantitative similarities - large-ish co-ed bands with a distinct orchestral flavour and who put on terrific live shows, but the spirit of what the two bands do seem so diametrically opposed to me, that putting one down in the "RIYL" column for the oth...
I always knew Ra Ra Riot were longing for global exploration. Seems like they've got their sights set on the universe next. What? You don't believe me? Here's the proof: mp3: Ra Ra Riot - Ghost Under Rocks Photo by Doron Gild~~
Before our shiny 'n' new site arrives we thought we'd introduce another new article type. The concept is incredibly simple: one of our number likes a band, does the who-what-why paragraph, drops in a video (or audio link) and you tell us if you love them too.
