R.E.M., Van Halen Lead 2007 Rock Hall Class R.E.M., Van Halen, Patti Smith, the Ronettes and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame March 12 during a ceremony at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. I went from Mexico City to Long Island for my freshman year of college in 1983. My parents still lived in DF and I left my turntable there for that first year and only had a cassette player. I bought REM's Murmur on cassette. For the longest time, I was troubled by this question. The CD eventually solved the mystery of that interlude.
