Or maybe there's just a political angle to the group's latest move. A couple years removed from their last full-length album, with its masturbatory title How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul?, Public Enemy has teamed up with Amsterdam-based...

I saw Public Enemy in Hamburg/Germany last night. They performed at a venue which they first played 21 (!) years ago - and they rocked the house for more than two hours non-stop.In addition to DJ Lord, they had a strong three-piece band with them (guitar, bass, drums). As always, they stretched the boundaries of hip-hop. It was one of the best rock concerts I've seen in a long time!Which wasn't ...

Public Enemy - Fear Of A Black Planet (1990)Rating 9/10In 1976, white teen angst, visceral rejection of authority and a fearless vocal portrayal of loss of hope and alienation resulted in a new musical revolution. In 1988 it was the time for Black American Hip Hop artists to activate their own powerful broadside on a world that was ignorant to the social deprivation that blighted their world. P...

i was 12 years old, trekking through the snow, delivering the community newspaper within my minneapolis suburban neighborhood on a sunny thursday afternoon when i heard sirens. it wasn't the cops. it wasn't the fire department. it was my new cassette walkman, the size of a brick, telling me that the revolution cannot be televised. and then it brought the noise. this is one of the days that...

...from the Allow-Me-to-Reiterate-Its-Importance Dept:..here's a slice off of P.E.'s Fear of a Black Planet LP that goes way beyond the threshold of yes-yes y'allin'...this whole album is full of radio hits like "911 is a Joke", "Welcome to the Terrordome" and "Fight the Power" but if you'll dig a bit deeper, you'll find goodies like "Brothers Gonna Work it Out", "Burn Hollywood Burn" (featuri...

It is all so farcical, but perceived to be so... "real"? by those who enjoy it.Now do not get me wrong, I have caught myself tapping my foot from time to time to certain songs that usually "cross over" or appear in a commerical eventually...But reading the following this morning, it all seemed so... plastic. Is this what the B-boys intended? If NWA in 1986 could see it all now.. would they thro...

...Hyman's post "*about changing MOG's color*":http://mog.com/david_hyman/blog_post/81866 got me thinking...since I'm down with the brown (and that's word) I do have a request: change that friggin' alien head that's used as a default icon or as an avatar to denote when a MOG account is closed...those cold, black doll eyes are vexing me...I'm terribly vexed...I got a couple lines at the bottom o...
