Like a lot of people, when I get a CD these days, I stick it into the computer and transfer it onto my mp3 player, then listen to it while online or on my daily commute. Oya touts itself as the most environmentally friendly music festival in Norway, with everything involved being selected with the environment in mind. The food is 100% ecological, and the utensils are completely biodegradable. This years festival includes Nine Inch Nails, Amy Winehouse, Tool, Lily Allen, The Jesus And Mary Chain, and has Primal Scream headlining. The event takes place in Oslo's Medieval Park between August 7-12.

Thanks to Nick Tangborn (Jackpine), I watched the new Primal Scream video for "Country Girl" (off the group's latest album, Riot City Blues) a few minutes ago. The song is Brit-rock country in the tradition of the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman," and there's nothing coincidental about that comparison. Still from "Country Girl" video. I know this is a few months old, but I just heard the latest Primal Scream single, "Country Girl," and man, is it good. Stones-y, a little raunchy, blissfully catchy. The video is here and does exactly what the video should do -- it's all about a hot girl in a cowboy hat who (to paraphrase my pal Jon who sent me the link) does drugs, drinks, and kicks everybody's ass.
