"My Will Is Good" (KEXP SONG OF THE DAY)"My Will Is Good" (Bodega Girls Remix)Press release:Port O'Brien recently released threadbare, available now on TBD Records (Radiohead, White Rabbits). The coastal California band, which started as a bedroom project of Van Pierszalowski and Cambria Goodwin, has been hard at work since the release of their acclaimed 2008 album, All We Could Do Was Sing,
[Port O'Brien]I would've never thought that Port O'Brien's campfire friendly indie/folk sing-along songs would make for a good electronic remix. I am proven wrong by the Bodega Girls with their take on the song "My Will Is Good" from Port O'Brien's new album Threadbare. It's like the dance-floor took a trip to Alaska to go sailing and hit an iceberg of creativity. or vice-versa.MP3 :: Port O'B...
California’s Port O’Brien has been working hard. A 2008 album followed by a world tour? Yikes. Take a break, guys. No? You’re going to release another album? In October? And then you’re touring Europe? Weren’t you just there?? I really enjoy the new song, “My Will Is Good,” but I’m very concerned about your health [...]
Port O’Brien just premiered another new track (via Stereogum) called “My Will Is Good.” The album entitled Threadbare will be released on October 6th.What strikes me about this album, in addition to Cambria Goodwin taking on more vocal duties, is the change in Van Pierszalowski’s vocals on most tracks. His delivery is less forced and [...]

Loss weighs heavy on Port O'Brien's new LP. While it's not the dreaded "sophomore slump," the band is certainly in an emotional one.By any standard, Port O'Brien's sophomore LP, Threadbare, is a somber, introspective work, but it seems even more so when compared to the band's rough and ragged debut, All We Could Do Was Sing. Sadly, there is a very good reason for this: the younger brother of b...
Maybe once upon a time all they could do was sing, but ‘Threadbare’ proves that Port O’Brien are so much more than careless frolics around the sea and on the beaches.
Port O’Brien have been one of my top five favorite bands for the past three years. Each album they release far exceeds my expectations and slowly becomes an addiction. I’ve seen them in San Francisco, Austin and once in Boston where I had the opportunity to chat with lead singer Van Pierszalowski over a pint. [...]
There are arguably few bands emerging in music today who are as fascinating as Port O'Brien. Their music, while not overtly exciting, has some sort of subliminal quality to it that really leaves the listener wanting to hear more. They aren't outrageous, they're not particularly original, and they certainly have yet to mature into full-fledged [...]
If you are into somewhat folksy/acoustic music you should check these guys out, I saw them a few months ago opening for Bright Eyes and their live show blew me away. The album just doesn't do them justice and a lot of the songs they played aren't on it, but this one was one of my favorites, just a great beat and fun lyrics. Check em' out.

concert review: Bodies of Water, Port O'Brien, The Ghost Is Dancing @ El Mocambo (Toronto, Ontario), August 8, 2008Perhaps Toronto's own Bruce Peninsula who performed last Friday night at Whippersnapper Gallery stole many an indie fan from attending the show at the El Mocambo that night, or at least I like to think so considering the relatively sparse turnout for the triple bill of The Ghost Is...

Well, it looks like the weather for the Monolith Festival is going to be just about as amazing as you could hope for. High 60s to mid 70s during the day...seriously, I'm contemplating a move west. This festival is going to have a really personal feel, a very diverse lineup and it's at the best live music venue in the country. Tickets are still on sale, and a limited amount of VIP tickets are...
I'm out here in Denver for Monolith in eager anticipation. We've been chock-full of great, new content and songs from Port O'Brien lately, and now they've gone and covered Nirvana's Something In The Way ...
