As a dyed-in-the-wool Apple "fanboi," I've been a huge fan of the iTunes store for several years. But recently, I've started buying from Amazon for several reasons, and thought I'd share a recent buying experience. I was shopping for Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon(the 1993 20th Anniversary remaster) this week. I checked iTunes, who wanted the standard album price, $9.99, which wasn't bad. While there, I also looked at The Wall and it was going for 25 bucks and cha... MORE

From Zeropaid.com There is an interesting report via the Hollywood Reporter from early last week that proves once and for all that the RIAA really doesn't care about music artists, or "content providers" as it often refers to them as. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/music/news/e3i29ce7ca58f3334d03346ad2dcaa23e21 For record labels are working to lower the "mechanical royalty" it's required to pay to songwriters and publishers. The RIAA says the c... MORE
What makes one piece of music great in the minds of the masses, and another not? I asked this to myself today when I jumped in the car and turned on the radio to the sound of "Money" from Dark Side of the Moon. Pink Floyd may be the only band to successfully maintain a piece of Prog artistry on the moolah airwaves. Dark Side of the Moon has been called their opus, and I think it may be termed the opus of Prog fans too as part of our quest to convert the great unwashed li... MORE
Does anyone know that the current Canadian Dollar to American Dollar exchange rate is $1.02 to our $1.00? I can't remember the Canadian Dollar ever doing better then the American Dollar. Now that is a sign of the end of days. Euro to Am. Dollar - 1.42 to $1.00Pound to Am. Dollar (gulp) £2.04 to $1.00 Folks this is really bad...our dollar is tanking in the world and it has everything to do with our foreign policies and practices. It has also been made worse by loweri... MORE

As Mr. Ivylander and I were discussing the commodification of everything.....major labels and myspace have made a deal to perhaps make some money in the record biz again. We'll monetize around the experience in many ways, Kapur said. That includes such models as advertising, and downloads and mobile sales and ticketing and merchandising, and all of that flows into this ecosystem that we're building that's very much unprecedented. Can experience be monetized? Everythi... MORE
