This is Roger Waters's two-disc meditation on the travails of a rock star, whose unhappy life causes him to build a psychological barrier between himself and the rest of the world. Contains the number one hit "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" and the concert favorite "Comfortably Numb" (cowritten by David Gilmour).
So I was going to look up an article in the archives of rollingstone.com, when i discovered that the new issue came out, and the cover story is on Pink Floyd. They discuss the band's constant disdain for one another and their knowledge of having to come together and play live 8 in july of 2005 in order to honor syd barrett - the estranged and slightly "off-color" guitarist and genius from the ea...

I submit that from time to time it becomes almost a physical, and certainly a psychological, necessity to revisit the Majesty and Grandeur that is _The Wall_. And in my wine-soaked enthusiasm I am compelled to ask: "Where does the signature guitar lick from _Comfortably Numb_ rank in the Pantheon of Signature Guitar Licks?"
Well, last night I watched the Wall last night, straight, for the first time.Let me tell ya. That movie fucks with my brain even if I don't have a paranoia inducing mind altering drug in my system. It's still damn good though.Just don't watch it with anybody who sucks to watch movies with...."Is that Pink Floyd...?""So...does that kid not have a dad...?"What's going on?"
Though I also think that Dark Side of the Moon works very well with the Wizard of Oz, this works far better. Not only does the music seem too relevant to the animation to be true at some times, but both the movie and the album (minus Comfortably Numb) are both 90 minutes. what has to be done for the perfect result is you have to burn both discs in The Wall onto one cd minus comfortably nu...
So, surely I'm not the only person on here...yet I can't find a single soul in my area. I guess this thing is still in the catching-on-phase. As far as I can tell, I'm the only one in MD. Come on, fellow music enthusiasts...PS...I don't think I have to explain my embarrassment at my first concert and first album...heehee...
I haven't heard anything from the online digital music distributer 7digital in quite awhile and I've been wondering what's up over there. I finally heard some news from them, and boy is it BIG NEWS! 7digital has released Pink Floyd's entire catalog of albums as DRM-free high quality mp3s in the UK! Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are currently selling for £5.49 and £6.99, but according to.
In an attempt to harvest email addresses, eMusic has put what they call a "*Music Intelligence Test*":http://www.mymusiciq.com/ on line. It's actually more of a "Music General Knowledge" test, but it's interesting.I'm almost ashamed to admit that i only scored 108 out of a possible 180...
I know this may shock & amaze those that have read my posts with any regularity... but I think this song speaks for itself. Sadly, Youtube has the clip disabled... but you can link to it by clicking "Van Morrison":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dc45zHdfRgI dedicate this to a good friend I was just thinking of... merely thinkin.
I recently came across a couple of on-line analytic tools that might be of interest to MOGgies: First, from something that bills itself as The Blog Readability Test, these analyses of the average readability levels of three of my favourite MOGgies:Mike the Knife: Anna: ME: And here, from another site, is a more detailed analysis of part of my recent post about the Moore's Ford Bridge lynchings ...

She helped to resist the Axis advance in those dark days of the early 1940's. Now, at the age of 93 and some 60 odd years since the end of the war Vera Lynn has fended off The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys and Pixie Lott to gain the number 1 spot in the UK album charts.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8253410.stmIt's an incredible feat when one considers that most of her generation are sadly ...
From The Wall Street JournalBy Jason FryThe CD, that venerable container for pop songs, may not be dead. But those who hold it dear have been asked to assemble.Earlier this month, Nielsen Soundscan released 2007 data painting yet another portrait of a music industry struggling to make the transition to a more-uncertain, less-profitable business model. For the year, overall units sold rose 14% -...

As the title says, whatever happened to them? Looking at all my music and in the 70's and 80's it was as if you weren't a true rock band unless you released a concept album. In my own collection I have:Pink Floyd - The WallThe Who - QuadropheniaHawkwind - Chronicle of the Black SwordRush - 2112Queensryche - Operation MindcrimeMarillion - Misplaced ChildhoodJeff Wayne - War of the WorldsIron Maid...
