I went through high school with Robert Smith hair, lots of silver rings, and a different pair of black "creepers" for every day of the week. I could have told you all about the bands that were in "Star Hits" magazine (which was pop music for Britain, but very alternative for the U.S.) - depeche mode, pet shop boys, echo and the bunnymen, etc....I would look at the "stoners" in my high school with their Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin t-shirts and think "blech..." or "how borin...
