Don't get me started on Floyd's unreleased back catalog. Despite the existence of film scores, entire unheard concerts, studio experiments and songs that never made it to album, the Floyd people continue to dump pap on us like the recent "Oh, By The Way" boxed set: re-releasing, once again, the entire back catalog.
The EMI people need to release a real Floyd rarities box, containing stuff like the early singles as well as the music they made for the underground film "T... MORE

As a dyed-in-the-wool Apple "fanboi," I've been a huge fan of the iTunes store for several years. But recently, I've started buying from Amazon for several reasons, and thought I'd share a recent buying experience. I was shopping for Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon(the 1993 20th Anniversary remaster) this week. I checked iTunes, who wanted the standard album price, $9.99, which wasn't bad. While there, I also looked at The Wall and it was going for 25 bucks and cha... MORE

INDIO , Calif. (AP) - A giant helium-filled pig didn't drift off to hog heaven after it was released into the night sky during Roger Waters' performance at the Coachella music festival. It's been found - in pieces. Two couples found tattered halves of the inflatable swine in their yards, a few miles from festival grounds in the Southern California desert. Concert organizers had offered a $10,000 reward for the pig's return. On Tuesday, pieces of the plastic carcass ... MORE

Heres Pink Floyds " The Gunners Dream" set to Heavy Metal's B-17 segment... enjoyy.(most see for every floyd fan)

It's quite aggravating that the loss of Roger Water's inflated pig is getting more press than the show itself. (If you want to find out more about the pig's tragic end, read this: http://mog.com/Charley_Rogulewski/blog_post/159280?from=latest_news
The focus should be on the epic, orgasmic (ehem), apocalyptic performance itself. I have experienced a hand-full of rare, cosmic, skin-prickling concert moments where a thousand eyes gaze either teary or dumb-struck at the icon on ... MORE

Roger Waters lost his pig and is asking for your help.
If you live downwind of Coachella, keep and eye out for a gigantic pig. Seriously, this thing could be your ticket to a better life.
"Safe return of the flying swine will bring a reward of $10,000 and four Coachella tickets for life," pig officials said.
The synthetic swine was released during the song "Pigs," was scrawled with antiwar graffiti ("Don't be led to the slaughter") and an apparent Barack Obama ... MORE

In an attempt to harvest email addresses, eMusic has put what they call a Music Intelligence Test on line. It's actually more of a "Music General Knowledge" test, but it's interesting. I'm almost ashamed to admit that i only scored 108 out of a possible 180...... MORE

Faith4Sweetgirl just sent me a letter through MOG ! She must have read my post about the Spam mail, and decided that I was just the guy for her! She writes:
Hello My Dear

I want to tell you something very important, though i am not suppose to tell you now because we just met but i know that you would be of good help to ... MORE

As Mr. Ivylander and I were discussing the commodification of everything.....major labels and myspace have made a deal to perhaps make some money in the record biz again. We'll monetize around the experience in many ways, Kapur said. That includes such models as advertising, and downloads and mobile sales and ticketing and merchandising, and all of that flows into this ecosystem that we're building that's very much unprecedented. Can experience be monetized? Ev... MORE

I am a big fan of covers. All kind of covers - tributes, string quartet versions, bluegrass versions, straight covers, etc. Mostly I am a huge fan of covers that keep the original spirit of the work intact, while the artist renders their inspired interpretation. Covers are hit and miss.
This cover is a hit. Personally I was skeptical when I first heard about this CD, but after now listening to it many times over - I still can't believe that one of the greatest... MORE

A camera is dollied through the cornflakes and paper towels. A tune from the oft-neglected post-Syd, pre-Dark Side of the Moon era is heard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meddle

Damn...when everything about a day that possibly could go wrong DOES go wrong, and all you wish you could do is talk to your best friend who happened to blow his head off going on 3 years ago, things aren't exactly looking up, are they? Scott Zarek, wherever you are, this tune goes out to you.... MORE

Hey, I just took delivery of "The Black Strat" written by Phil Taylor, and it's absolutely incredible. This lavishly illustrated book chronicles the history of David Gilmour's signature guitar in the many versions and forms it's taken over the years. The book is satisfyingly technical with great photos and details of the modifications (and there have been a ton!) and tweaks that make this guitar nothing like it was when originally purchased at Manny's in New York way back whe...
