I have a playlist on my iTunes called 'Oh my God I love you!' and I have been listening to it a lot, and I realise that all the love songs I like are about broken hearts and endings Sad sad sad. This is probably my song of the year. I can't stop listening to it. I love it. I love how it sounds like all my favourite Dunedin songs (anything by the Verlaines, maybe) rolled up together, cycling around and around in minor chords until... suddenly... there's a full chorus. Chords change, the sun comes out, it's bright grey, but even so, all is well with the world, and the girls and I dance around the lounge singing "ooo-ooo" like a small troupe of blond mon... MORE

Eagle vs Shark

So, I went to see Eagle vs Shark tonight and it was awesome. For those who don't know, it is a New Zealand film staring Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords (who have a new TV show - see below) Anyway, the music for the film was provided by The Phoenix Foundation and was rather lovely. There is a lot of their music available on their website for listening to. i think i might have to go buy the film soundtrack at some point. It was all rather lovely... MORE
