Nothing like the shuffle feature pulling something out of the library that you haven't played in awhile that you really enjoy. That's what just happened...and here it is. Phil Lesh-bass, John Molo-drums, Rob Barraco-keys, Warren Haynes-guitar, vocals, Jimmy Herring-guitar. Enjoy!

Langerado 2008 : Went, Saw, Returned // The Festival
It is the recovering Monday after Langerado, and I’m still in the process of working out the kinks in my muscles and uploading photos. Also, not killing my cat, who is overjoyed to see me and Wade (more me) and keeps cheerleading her way around my apartment. Noisily. Not to mention her kneading my sunburn. In ... MORE

Stopped in on the latest instantiation of Phil & Friends the other night. It's been a year or more since my last Phil show and this one was, frankly, damn good. Of particular note was the newest (and youngest by far) member, Jackie Green. He is truly a kid but an excellent multi-instrumentalist. And he "gets it" in terms of what Phil's looking for...At one point after he'd traded leads with Larry Campbell on guitar, then run over to the keyboards to add some fills, I thoug... MORE

...in Wallingford, CT on this date in 2001... I really love the Warren Haynes permutations of Phil's band and this show is pretty hot...several tunes that were new at the time and just some real tight playing. This is the most cohesive I remember any of Phil's projects sounding. Barraco's keyboard playing is really over the top and adds a lot to the sound. I admire the way Phil has mixed it up over the years with the line-ups and repertoire. As much as I love the '99 -... MORE
..together in New Haven, CT, on this date in 1999... Phil & Dylan toured together several times around the turn of the century. It was a treat to see them at the Coliseum in New Haven as the place was the scene of many a night's music madness throughout the '80s. Tours stopped going there in any regular way by the mid-90s. In fact the Coliseum has since been torn down. What's crazy is that the place has its own wikipedia entry... Two tracks today, one from each act. Ph... MORE
...at Roseland Ballroom in NYC on this date in Y2K... Allen Woody was the bass player in Gov't Mule and before that for the Allman Brothers Band. He died earlier in the year 2000 and this show was a memorial and benefit for his wife and daughter. Phil Lesh & Friends played first. I personally think Roseland is a lousy place for sound unless you are in one of a few sweet spots but it was great seeing Phil up close. This was the era of what many thought was the best vers...
