I guess removing your tattoos are the new thing to do in hip hop, Pharrell and 50 Cent are both taking off their arm tats. 50 is removing his due to his career in movies (covering them with makeup is a hassle), Pharrell is removing his tattoos.... so he can get different tattos where the old ones resided. In this video, Skateboard P talks about first wanting tats because he saw Fred Durst with som (how embarrassing!). He then confesses that most of his tattoos came from "... MORE
The Neptunes producer and hip hop artist Pharrell joined Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy to produce music for Hennessy whiskey ads. It's part of the Flaunt Your Taste campaign that sees taste as the new bling in hip hop culture. I read on ProHipHop today about the commercials and ad space that would be published in the next few weeks:
The campaign, which includes seven Internet spots and three conventional TV commercials that will begin airing in the next few weeks, continue... MORE
Pharrell attended a performing arts school himself as a child, and was drawn torwards this project as a result. This series eventually found a home at ABC after it sparked a bidding war among the major networks. Was on ?uestloves myspace page the other day and listened to his remix of 'Number One' by Pharrel featuring Kanye. Thought the original was alright but I love the funky lo-fi feel of the remix. ?uestlove has new group/collective called 'The YesSirs'and they are remixing the whole in my mind album. Can't wait to hear it as I've always felt Pharrells stuff is a bit too synthesised so will be good to hear it with a full band.
So Converse , the 100-year old, classic shoe company, is celebrating their birthday in style with an original track from a combination of Pharrell (and N.E.R.D. ), Santogold , and Julian Casablancas of The Strokes called "My Drive Thru".
The video has a great home-made feel to it thanks to animation short-spot wizards PSYOP pushing all the performers in a flip-book cutout style world. Check it out, it's just so damn neat. ~~

I was exhausted last night after the family New Year's celebration. So get home, and I'm checking the myspace account and I get a message from my friend that says "I need your help, IM ME". Pop up the IM and she's like, "I need your help and if anyone can do this it's you". She goes on to tell me that she heard this song and she doesn't WANTS it really bad but doesn't know what its called. She sends me to Pharrell's myspace profile and tells me to check out the video a... MORE
I recently made a post on my own blog about how Pharell shouldn't even try with his solo debut, but against my wishes it's going to happen. So I grabbed the album, figured I'd check it out before passing too harsh judgement, but mostly the album is extremely forgetable with the beats being it's only real saving grace. He's just as annoying as ever, extremely reatarded lyrics, little "stories" of his that more then likely completely fabricated, and boasting and dropping... MORE
