Photo credit: Rukes.com Birmingham, UK has a powerhouse of sound in Will Bailey (a.k.a. Rudi Stakker). Formerly half of short-lived fidget outfit Twocker (with Calvertron), and owner of startup label Simma, Will Bailey makes world-renowned tracks in the emerging fidget house sub-genre. It's something that sounds a bit of UK garage, electro house, drum'n'bass and breakbeat [...]
I [John Public] caught up with Pharoahe Monch at the press day for the BK Hip-Hop festival for EOW, and he talked about being a part of this incredible event (that keeps getting better EVERY year, btw). He also talked about his touring experiences and bringing hip-hop overseas, as well as Eminem and Nas as [...]
This actually makes me look and (slightly) feel bad, because I haven’t bought any kind of CD since Pharoahe Monch’s Desire. Double Barrel, in stores now.
"Pharoahe Monch":PM recently put out his remix version of "Rehab", the break though song off Amy Winehouse's album ??Black to Black??. His intentions aren't clear, but what is clear is that he has lightened up the Winehouse drama and given us all a chance to take a step back and laugh. The video is a little graphic, doubtful it will make it to the MTV scene...Pharoahe Monch has been around for a bit, but his lyrical ability is just amazing. He is definately one of those underrated rappers who deserves a lot more respect.
I went to Rock the Bells at Randall's Island in New York a few weeks ago. Overall I was kind of disappointed with the whole event. Despite those feelings I did see the light for about 25 minutes early in the afternoon. Pharoahe Monch performed with his full band/back up singers and really ripped it.
