All Music GuidePete Namlook is able to create beautiful music in many different styles of electronica. Silence 1 is a collaboration with Dr. Atmo. It is a set of deep, melancholy minimalism. Namlook and Atmo are mourning mankind's abuse of the natural resources of Earth. At the same time they are celebrating -- even promoting -- the healing powers of this style of ambience. The dense soundscape surrounds a very low, quiet drone. Strange, whispered voice samples augment the atmosphere. This very pleasant CD will appeal to fans of Mathias Grassow, Alio Die, Zero Ohms, and Brannan Lane. It is essential for fans of electronic minimalism.
