Recorded for their album titled The Modern Dance, This track is going to support my post http://mog.com/I_am/blog_post/100732
Enjoy!
Pere Ubu is about as Punk as you can get. I wanted to put "The Fevered Dream of Hernando DeSoto" from their St. Arkansas album. But I could work the title into a war theme without referring to a plague and pestilence. So now I am fuzzy and warm and very approachable. This track serves my purposes just fine. This track is off their album "The Modern Dance" recorded in '77 (album was released in 1978) this track puts these Cleveland rockers at the begining of the so c... MORE
I've never encountered an album that so alters listeners' perceptions of the world around them so much as this record. I can say with a straight face that it is actually slightly dangerous to listen to while driving. There is alot of talk about how artists in performance either enhance or destroy the space between them and their audience that is, by default, present due to the stage. On their 1978 debut Pere Ubu, however, transcend the boundary that devides the sound of ... MORE
The only band I can think of that's over 20 years old and, as far as I can determine, has never put out a bad album is Pere Ubu. I was listening to my MP3 player today when I was out & the song 'Bus Called Happiness' started playing. I was reminded of the sheer brilliance that was Pere Ubu. What can you say for a band that's been around for decades & no one ever mentions them(or knows who they are? except Blair or Neill )That's the definition of underground! Perhaps because of their undefinable sound & punk indie origins they seem to have been overlooked considerably. But not by me! Here's a littl... MORE
You know, growing up as a "rocker" (read: sammy hagar, van halen, montrose, etc), there's quite a lot of music out there that I have had little or no experience with. In the past 10 years, I've broadened my musical taste quite a bit, but I still find myself finding out about stuff that's come around quite a while ago that I wish I'd heard about long before. I suppose that's one "benefit" of being mostly focused on one particular genre of music. If you feel like explori... MORE
