Peeping Tom

Peeping Tom is a Mike Patton project by mail (well, more likely email or some sort of FTP/file swap set up). Think the Faith No More era Patton meets Ben Gibbard/Jenny Lewis Postal Service side project. This is probably the most accessible Mike Patton project since his days with Faith No More. Patton swapped files with such artists as Kool Keith, Rahzel, Nora Jones, Dan "The Automater", and Amon Tobin. The resulting tracks are compiled in the album Peeping Tom.

This weekend I head to NYC to see 4 shows: Songbird (Jeff Daniels - yum), Radio Golf (August Wilson's final installment in is 10 plays, 1 for each decade - I miss him), Journey's End (one of the most talented stage actors I was fortunate to witness in "I am my Own Wife" off-broadway - Jefferson Mays) & Spring Awakening (DUNCAN SHEIK & SEX - perfect together). On sunday i saw peeping tom at koko and it was great. Mike Patton was joined by (among others) Rahzel, who was amazing. After working through most of the album, the encore consisted of 'Remember (Walking In The Sand)' and Bobby Womack's '110th Street'. The support band were the fantastic Dub Trio, who i'm new to. Well, I've known this for some time, but Vegoose is this weekend (Oct 28-29), but alas, I will not be going this year. I went to the first one last year, which was GREAT, with Arcade Fire, Beck, Spoon, Ween, Devandra Banhart, The Decemberists and so many other great bands giving terrific performances. I f'ing LOVE Peeping Tom. I'm an old-school FNM & Mr. Bungle fan, so I'm not new to Patton's magnificence. Although I didn't care for contemporary Bungle material, Tomahawk, or Fantomas, I can't stop listening to Peeping Tom. I dig Lovage too, but not nearly as much as this. It's official, kids; I now worship at the altar of Mike Patton. About a year ago my sisterfriend VJ became obsessed with Tomahawk, and it was then that I began to hear Patton's praises sung.
