Blog post image preview Pearl Jam are no stranger to the bootleg concept. Back in 2000 the band began releasing official bootlegs of their live shows and have sold more than 3.5 million of the suckers (says Billboard.com). Now PJ will release burn-to-order CDs of each live show of their 2008 summer run in MP3 and FLAC formats, exclusively via Pearl Jam’s fan club, Ten Club, at www.pearljam.com. The digital bootlegs, available two weeks after each show, will not be encripted with DRM (Di... MORE

Sad Songs Say So Much

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(108)
Blog post image preview I know I'm not the first, and I surely won't be the last...Is there one song that just gets you like no other? The saddest, most depressing song that just 'says it all, so that you (thank G-d) don't have to?' This weekend, I have my i-tunes on shuffle while I write papers...what's ALL I'm doing ALL WEEKEND LONG. And I start bawling like a baby out of no where... Garfinkel's "Conditions For Successful Degradation Ceremonies" (topic of the paper 'du jour') is no reason... MORE

Blog post image preview A fond memory from when I was a teenager was hanging out with my dad in the early morning hours of the night. I was still living with my folks in Bemidji, MN and, being in the late high school/early college stage of my life, I'd commonly stay up all hours watching TV or surfing the web. My dad, being a musician, comes home around 2 am on gig nights, but rarely goes straight to bed. Those nights when he was "too wound up" to turn in, we'd stay up and talk or channel surf... MORE

The Drive

Artist:
Album:
Track:
Yesterday on the drive home I had the windows rolled down. It was sunny outside and the radio was blaring. At times like that I feel hopeful, free from the day's worries. The stress of the work day is gone and the anticipation of a relaxing evening excites me. I flipped through the presets on my radio and couldn't find anything to suit my mood. I finally resorted to the collection of cd's sitting in the console. As I rifled through them to find just the right one, I... MORE

One of the most refreshing things I have seen in quite sometime is to observe Pearl Jam coming alive again with the most energy they have shown in years. Watching their performances on SNL, Letterman, and Storytellers, I am thrilled to see Eddie sing with a renewed passion that resonates all the way back to the Vitalogy era. When VH1 Classic recently aired a block of PJ videos, its astonishing to see the difference between the performances of "Evenflow" and "Not For You" ... MORE

Pearl Jam and going green

Artist:

So, having always enjoyed Pearl Jam, I just found another good reason to appreciate these guys. Apparently they're very eco-aware and are trying to balance out their carbon emissions created by their latest tour through several means including the use of bio-diesel and carbon offset programs. Grist interview with Pearl Jam.
