Not to be confused with The Who's 5:15, this little song was left off the now unavailable 49:00, which as I explained earlier mysteriously disappeared from Amazon this week.
Paul Westerberg's 49:00, a 43-minute one track album of stripped down rockers, disappeared from the Amazon mp3 charts, and Amazon itself this week. Last week, 49:00 was at the top of the site's mp3 album chart. Speculation on a Paul Westerberg fan web site (paulwesterberg.net) is that the release ran into copyright problems with a medley of covers near the end of the album. The covers included snippets of Steppenwolf's Born to be Wild and the Partidge Family's I Woke Up... MORE
Here is the first song -- there are no tracks -- on Paul's new 49:00 release -- which is available as a 49 cent download this week at Amazon. If these are throwaways, I can't wait until his next proper release. Great stuff -- more later.
Do people still like to rock? The answer seems to be yes if they can get an entire album worth of songs for 49 cents. Paul Westerberg's stunt makes his new release the top album download at Amazon this week. Last week I posted two songs from this epic one track here on my MOG:

Hey, I liked it
I was thinking of making a mix cd of songs about musicians/bands calling out the new generation of artists. One of the classics under this heading would of course be Who Are You by the Who which Pete Townshend wrote for the punk bands in the late 70's. The only other song I was able to come up with on my own was World Class Fad by Paul Westerberg. "If you want it that badBe a world class fadRemember leave a trail of crumbsIf you want it that badYou`re a world class f... MORE

i just had this feeling that it was a paul westerberg kind of day. something about the sun and the wind and the being stuck inside my store all afternoon. something about the way the dust keeps blowing off the counters by the resurfacer and how we could probably turn off the lights and it would be just as bright in here because that's how bright the sunshine is today. so i put in the store's copy of stereo. and it worked. it fit. it's like all the pieces came toget... This song stayed at number one on my playlist for months. Its still at the top of the 25 most played songs on my ipod and is one of my favorite tracks off of one of my favorite records of all-time, ever. I'm a whore for the replacements. They were everything i seemed to have missed in music, the punk rock diaspora that manifested itself in funny places and sad songs, a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, a little bit t-rex and a little the jam. I effing love ... MORE
