All Music GuideThis anthology collects the early, often charming and sometimes overly cute singles from Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Besides the classic "I Sold My Heart to the Junkman" (which was really LaBelle backed by the Starlets), there are lesser-known numbers like "Down the Aisle (The Wedding Song)" and "I'm Still Waiting." Overall, this is competent period-piece material, but it's clear that LaBelle and company preferred more aggressive and assertive material and were never quite comfortable with most of these songs.
