In my mind, every song has images. It just so happens that the songs I like the most, are the ones I get the most vivid images for.
Patrick Wolf's songs are like poems dipped in melody and lyricism. Rebecca Dautremer's {a French book illustrator, writer and comic designer} images balance between reality & fairy tales in a wonderful way. I'd love to see the two artists paired professionally. I'd like to see Rebecca illustrate Patrick's songs and Patrick turn Rebecca'... MORE

Patrick Wolf wrote a beautiful blog entry on his myspace this week about his exciting travels and adventures recently. What really caught my attention, was a paragraph near the end about meeting Patti Smith on someone's front porch. A meeting which is leading him into another exciting adventure! Here is an excerpt:
patti smith and I met on the stairs at hurst house, and we ended up playing three songs together on the saturday night, me on the harmonium and viola and pat

Scratch the last post. It's been even LONGER since I've been on mog. Patrick Wolf is cool. Yes I have said it, so it must be true haha. His voice reminds me of Joy Division. What was his name again? edit: I just remembered! Ian Curtis.... MORE

And to think it was 70 degrees a week ago....
On the ipod: The Magic Position by Patrick Wolf. Lovely dreamy pop music for quite a surreal day.

I know, don't slap me, we are lucky that Mog has't become a sludge hole of media cats pimping free downloads in exchange for email addresses and weird illusive invites for 'new band launches' in Green Point. I don't seek to taint the waters, just make the lot a bit merrier.
So I figured I'd invite my trusted Moggerinas and Moggitos to a lil indie event I am throwing tonight...no big corporate monster like Sears behind it. Though I am taking offers :) kiddin.
Anyways... MORE

Now that it's '08 I can post my top 20 album list of '07. Yea yea, I know you've all been IMPATIENTLY waiting for this one, haha! I've been listening to alot of new albums to make sure I didn't miss anything that should be included on my list. I've heard some good stuff but most of it just didn't keep my attention long enough. Like The National- huh? Just don't get the furor over their cd. Sigh . . . . But kudos to Helen & Anna who've been ranting about Patric... MORE

Been thinking about getting one of Patrick Wolf's other CDs and I generally like to work my way backwards through an artists discography but my HMV only has Lycanthropy (sp?) in stock. So I was wondering which album is considered better? Lycanthropy or Wind In The Wires? Which one is easier to get into? It took me a while to get into some songs from The Magic Positiion, which wasn't a bad thing actually - it's kinda fun "discovering" a song all of a sudden. But I'd lik... MORE

For the first time in years I haven't gone out for Bonfire Night! But that's OK cause the weather is crap and it gives me time to type this post. I'm going to post two tunes with fireworks in them to celebrate Bonfire Night. First up is Patrick Wolf with Blubells, which has a firework sounds running through out. Great song and vocals: Secondly I going to post an Ai Otsuka tune, though none of two I'd considered sound as "Bonfire-y" as Bluebells. I'm gon... MORE

I went.
I saw.
I heard.
I gaped. Yes, my ears were conquered by
Mr. Wolf. The costumes, the platform shoes, the glitter[emanating off of Patrick and also the excessive amounts being thrown at him from the crowd]... all made it a night to remember and is fondly replayed over and over in my head every time I hear his music. Listen. Enjoy.

I am discovering that there has been many opportunities I have turned down, simply based on a first time impression.
That's some kind of humility, I guess.
This grows on you, I hated it at first :

Don't you love it when you randomly hear a song being played somewhere when you least expect it? Went to see Run Fatboy Run today - not as good as Shaun of the Dead/Spaced/Hot Fuzz, but better than I expected - and during one scene you heard a little of Patrick Wolf's Magic Position. So I had to copy this tune to the computer as soon as I got back! I did quite like the tune before - just thought the chorus wasn't as good as the rest of the song. Will have to give it a ... MORE

I found this amusing Patrick Wolf interview online yesterday on YouTube. It was conducted by The Guardian. Basically they handed him a few everday objects and he commented on each one. P.S.: Check out his awesome hair!!!

Pretty freakin' fabulous. I am excited I don't have to work this weekend. I have spent the past three weekends tending bar at the theatre I work at. While this was rewarding financially and it's always lovely to hear I make a kick ass martini, I am happy to trade it for a chance to chill out at home and make myself a drink.
As part of the "I don't have to go to work for TWO WHOLE DAYS " celebration, here's my current peppy morning song/latest red-haired crush:
