Vulgar Display of Power

One of the most influential heavy metal albums of the 1990s, Vulgar Display of Power is just what is says: a raw, pulverizing, insanely intense depiction of naked rage and hostility that drains its listeners and pounds them into submission. Even the "allads," "This Love" and "Hollow," have thunderingly loud, aggressive chorus sections. Preaching power through strength and integrity, Phil Anselmo discards any further attempts at singing in favor of a militaristic bark and an unhinged roar, while the crystal-clear production sets Diamond Darrell's pummeling riffs against a rhythmic backdrop so thunderously supportive that Darrell often solos without underlying rhythm guitar parts. The album again follows Cowboys from Hell's strategy of stacking the best songs at the beginning and letting their momentum carry the listener through the rest, but the riffs and sonic textures are more consistently interesting this time around. Pantera's thick-sounding, post-hardcore power metal and outraged, testosterone-drenched intensity would help pave the way for alternative metal acts like Korn and Tool; Vulgar Display of Power is the best distillation of those virtues.

The third post to those that rock VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER some have argued this to be the best metal album of all time. I can respect that opinion, but I don’t like narrowing things down that much. Here is the track list:1. "Mouth for War" 2. "A New Level" 3. "Walk" 4. "Fucking Hostile" 5. "This Love" 6. "Rise" 7. "No Good (Attack the Radical)" 8. "Live in a Hole" 9. "Regular

a great song by Pantera, I had to cheat my own rule of 2 songs per every Album post, since VULGAR DISPLAY is such a great album, I figured since I made the rule, I could break it--> One of pantera's slower songs, I posted it because my all-time favorite Dimebag riff is at the end of this song--> Enjoy. And LESTER--> you should be inducted in the psycho-metal fan hall of fame!

I just got my first electric guitar, and it's been a long time comin'. I'm not very good or anything, but I like to amuse myself. I've been playing my acoustic for a bit over 3 years or so, and have wanted to get an electric for a long time. So I saw this Dean Vendetta XM in a Guitar Center add for $80 off and decided to go for. It took over a month to get here because it was on backorder so lo...
