Harmonicas, horns, djembes, oh my! G. Love & Special Sauce, Slightly Stoopid and Ozomatli are hitting the road together this summer. The three bands will headline the Summer Haze Tour, a 22-city trek beginning in Costa Mesa, California on August 4th. The tour follows G. Love and Special Sauce stints at both Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. Ozomatli played at Sasquatch, and put on a great show. I owe you all a write-up of my big adventure at Sasquatch, and it will come soon. But first I have to survive a job interview tomorrow morning, followed by a night on the town with Amber.

Tomorrow is the big day! I've been waiting since last Memorial Day for this festival to come around again, and I'm so excited that I'm able to make it again this year. Arcade Fire, Bjork, Grizzly Bear, the Hold Steady, Ozomatli and many more bands are about to give me the time of my life (or, at least, the time of this year). I posted a song by Ozomatli a little while ago, from their album Don't Mess with the Dragon. Now I'm going to be reviewing the whole album. And oh, it is good.The album starts off with the track I posted earlier, Can't Stop. It's a very fun, upbeat song with a nice rock edge. It's very catchy and cheerful, and a good opener to the album, giving a good impression of what to expect.However, Latin/Pop/Rock songs is not all they have up their sleeve. Ok, in all fairness, a lot of people probably did. Well, ok, I doubt anyone ever said that, but if you asked them, they probably would. Anyway, my point is, they were wrong.In comes Ozomatli... Their songs are just... a lot of fun! Probably not the kind of thing that will get you a lot of "cool" points in Indie circles, but I just can't resist. Ok, since my puter wouldn't allow me to upload songs last night & it is today I'm posting a few more for all ya'all to hear. "Como Ves" was featured as an instrumental on the program "Bill Nye The Science Guy" as their theme song at the intro to the program, so you might recognize this. It's a very energetic, fun song! Alright, I know my Spanish SUCKS bigtime so if you know this chant that Ozomatli does at the end of their show & how to spell it correctly I'll edit this once I'm corrected. Tried to figure out what this means with online translators but I wasn't spelling 'Puay' right. Ya=already, Say=know, but I need some help with Puay or is it Puey? No need to remind all of you that it is Superbowl weekend. I also probably don't need to mention that I am an avid football fan. I started my morning playing Ozomatli "Super Bowl Sundae". I sounded like a good celebratory song for the weekend mood. Maybe I should follow it up with some AC/DC "Thunderstruck" which seems to be a common theme at all football events. my first time at Sonoma county's Harmony fest this weekend. took in great sets from Hot buttered rum, cake and the( brought back from the graveyard) supersonic Steve Kimock led Zero, but the most grooving thing i saw all weekend was the infectious tunes cranked out by Ozomatli. i had only seen then one time long ago on the karl denson fronted snocone tour at the fillmore. i liked them then, but i loved them yesterday. everything about it was great, it is nothing but a roc...
