The major thing to happen to Our Lady Peace since the 2005 release of Healthy in Paranoid Times is the public embrace of David Cook, winner of the 2008 American Idol. Cook often called OLP his favorite band, enlisting the group's Raine Maida to co-write three songs on his debut, a development that could theoretically lead to a bigger audience for the Canadian post-grunge band, something that OLP appear to have kept in mind for their 2009 album, Burn Burn, if its streamlined sound is any indication. For all intents and purposes, this is another OLP album, still sounding like a hybrid of Joshua Tree-era U2 and latter-day Goo Goo Dolls, but the quirks, including the political inclination of Healthy, are toned down in favor of a gleaming adult alternative sound. Because Our Lady Peace are a rock band first and foremost, the slower moments are anthemic rather than sappy and the fist-pumping rockers are infused with righteousness, with the two extremes tied together with a spaciness that splits the difference between U2 and Coldplay.

Our Lady Peace - Burn, Burn - Coalition EntertainmentBelieve it or not, Burn, Burn actually represents a somewhat landmark album for Canadian rock group Our Lady Peace, a record that sets some precedence for the band. This is not only the bands’ first release in four years, the longest hiatus of their career, but also their first release as an independent, the band having split with Columbia .

Play to your strengths, always valid advice for any type of person. Jennifer Lopez learnt the hard way when she tried to do anything other than have a huge bottom, also, during a re-enactment of their favourite scenes from The Great Escape, Francesca Anobile took away a similar lesson.

Our Lady Peace debut new video

Our Lady Peace's new album, which is supposed to be a return to OLP circa 1995 doesn't come out until July 21. In the meantime, the band has released a video for "All You Did Was Save My Life." Two observations: first, I do think OLP have brought back some of the hard rock sound they originated with. Based on this song only, I couldn't in good mind put this song in the same breath as Naveed in ...
