Blog post image preview Alto-sax legend and free-jazz pioneer, Ornette Coleman received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize In Music for Sound Grammar. Coleman is widely recognized as the pioneer of the free-jazz style with his major-label debut album in 1959, The Shape Of Jazz To Come on Atlantic Recordings. Nearly 50 years later, he recorded the album that would win the prestigous prize : his 2006 release, Sound Grammar. According to it's review in All About Jazz in September 2006 :
