A month or so ago Opeth came to New York's Nokia Theater as part of an awesome (and diverse) package with High on Fire and Nachtmystium. This song is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard, and I love it so much!Generally, I love Opeth's huge dynamic which ranges from slow, aching songs like this, to explosive heaviness and eyeball-popping growling. I love it all! This song, however, is the most heart-wrenching song I've heard. Maybe even more heart-wrenching than The Downward Sprial from Nine Inch Nails. The song is extre...

There's little to criticize Opeth's consistent and imaginative back catalogue. Right from their raw inception they have been brave enough to incorporate all the elements and varieties of metal, from death metal, to black metal, to prog, to traditional acoustic music, with a skill and panache that invokes the impression that above all they are immensely talented musicians, with admirable arrang...

Opeth - Damnation

I have to admit I am totally surprised by this CD. I was zipping around the internet and read a blurb about this one in a Porcupine Tree review.
