Cd Review: "Waking Up" OneRepublic

OneRepublic - Waking Up - Interscope Records Let’s get this out of the way right from the start – sophomore slump? OneRepublic? Uh, no. It doesn’t take but a few minutes of their latest, Waking Up, to show these guys have gotten better and are far from done. It’s a hell of a lot more engrossing of a record, taking a page from recent work of Eye Alaska more than anything these guys have don

Neon Reviews: OneRepublic – Waking Up

Your frontman writes hit records for megastars like Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis. You’ve skyrocketed up the Billboard charts with your Timbaland-produced single, Apologize. Your debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. And you’ve sold out concerts around the globe. Now it’s time to follow-up all of that success, [...]

Album Review: OneRepublic "Waking Up"

OneRepublic, the Ryan Tedder-led band famous for their Timbaland-produced hit "Apologize," are back this week with their second album Waking Up. Back when their first album Dreaming Out Loud dropped, I pounced on it, having been intrigued by their unique ability to merge the sound of a rock band with radio-friendly beats & soulful vocals. Aside from a select few tracks, however, I found that al...

OneRepublic - All The Right Moves - I’m super pumped because OneRepublic has finally released some new music. Their sophmore album drops this November and “All The Right Moves” is the lead single. If the rest of their album is anything like this it will be “extrodinary”. This song will be #1 [...]

So typically, I'm not a fan of mainstream music, and if I am I like to keep it a secret. I don't like to follow society's trends. However, I have fallen in LOVE with OneRepublic. You've probably heard them from the song "Apologize" which was edited by Timbaland only to add some obnoxious "ay, ay, ay" to it. Anyways, I really liked their sound so I checked them out on iTunes and downloaded their...

I Don't Understand White People

I don't mean that I don't understand their actions or their motives (That's a whole 'nother story). I mean I don't understand them. Their language!I just wrote a paper about how white and black Americans actually speak completely different languages (remember the scene in "Money Talks" where Chris Tucker says that Charlie Sheen's fiancee is "phat"?). We really do communicate so differently.T...

I am a chronic maturbator. But that has nothing at all to do with this post.I am a chronic forgiver. What does that mean? Well, I can be a cold, black-hearted bastard. Any and every crime and indiscretion a man can commit against a woman, I've done twice...unapologeticly...then promptly gotten rid of the woman that had a problem with it. BUT (or maybe because of it)...when a woman wrongs me......

Apologize Without Timbaland, As It Should Be...

Timbaland takes more credit than he deserves. The title "Apologize ft. OneRepublic" just makes me angry. "Featuring" OneRepublic???????? THE BAND MADE THE SONG. Seriously, if anything it should be "OneRepublic ft. Timbaland." All he did was add a drum machine and some "Eh-Eh!'s."I hate you Timbaland. Self-inflated jerk. And I hope everyone else does too, eventually. On a more positive note...

STOP THE FADEOUT

I've been listeng to OneRepublic's record Dreaming Out Loud and quite enjoying some of the tracks on there. One of the best is All We Are, which has everything a good all-American power ballad should have - except a decent ending.Which brings me to the "fadeout". It's not often bands use the fadeout these days. I remember in the 80s particularly you used to hear them a lot, and bands would only ...
