So I've been working on some of the things that I tracked back in June with Jason. I gave you a very rough version of Badman in my last post a while back. Here's another version with finished lyrics and some better mixing and more parts.

So I have only the month of August to finish everything. Then I leave my beautiful dilapidated old coffin factory of a building behind and go back to school. I tracked some acoustic guitar for several of my songs so far. I'm going to upload a song for you guys, but, keep in mind, I'm making up all the words, the vocals are temporary, and everything is very rough in general. So, I'm finally making a "full length" record. It's either going to have nine or ten songs on it. I tracked drums for nine of the songs with Jason McGerr from Death Cab for Cutie in about a day and a half. We were trying to do a few other projects so we were real pressed for time. I think we got some good stuff though. We also recorded a lot of drum loops and drum samples that I'll be turning into a Reason refill. So if you're a Reason 3.0 user, keep your eyes out f... MORE

So I know some of you are Rhapsody users. I am, so you must be. You can finally stream my record off the Rhapsody music server. And, for every song you stream, I get a penny! That's right, a whole penny! So don't be shy, go ahead and stream that song twice. Or go ahead and leave it on all day on repeat while you're at work on the shortest track. Either way.

I was hoping to go over to the studio today, but it is so ungodly cold outside, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I think I'm going to make some tea, take a hot shower, and get into bed. Ok. I need to start picking songs for this record I plan on making. I only want the best stuff. I'd rather have it be a six song ep with six fantastic tunes, than a full length with some mediocre material. I have a whole bunch of ideas as well as completed songs uploaded onto on my web server. I just finished submitting my application to the Stanford MA/MST program at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). If all goes well, I will be attending Stanford in the fall of 2007. I'm quite excited. I was never really interested in going back to school, but then I just googled graduate programs in music synthesis and found a really great program at Stanford.
