The San Francisco trio Numbers let its 2002 album, Life, go through the Tigerbeat6 remix paddy wagon, with a predictable few great tracks, a handful of passable attempts, and a few total missteps. This album buds off with indie hip-hop impresario Gold Chains doing a classic, somewhat underwhelming skit. ew wavy dance infusion on "We Like Having These Things," a rare turn to approachability for this distortion specialist. While some may dislike the slick Depeche Mode qualities of G.D. Luxxe's mix, the true buzzkills are more of the over-avanting quality, like DAT Politics' cheap speed-induced slander of "Driving Song." Luckily, this overthought is kept on low, allowing Death to be more of a remix album in the classic sense than a display of the much-overused deconstruction techniques that many of these remixers have on their resumés.
