I just tried to post a long entry on "17 Days" by Prince and the Revolution, but the site timed out. I lost everything. Instead, I give you all this song in hopes you all become as severely depressed as I am. Of all of Nouvelle Vague's reinterpretations, nobody talks about this one. It's probably my favorite thing they've done. They plucked the bittersweet wistfulness right out of Visage's original and recontextualized it, and it sounds absolutely superb. When I saw... MORE

I was wondering of a way I could share my love of cover tunes with the MOG masses and since my recent posts featuring covers by Björk and The Cardigans garnered more comments than others, I felt I'd found my niche... so here goes! The first cover I will share with you is from French band Nouvelle Vague. This is a really cool group that covers 80s new wave and punk tunes in a 60s bossa nova style. theyre improved upon "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "This is Not a Love Song," Too Drunk to Fuck," and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" among others.
