To paraphrase Max Load's post, first the homage.
"Non, mais il dégueule pas vraiment?"
"Si, si..."
Went to a party
I danced all night
I drank 16 beers
And I started up a fight.
But now I am jaded
You're out of luck
I'm rolling down the stairs
Too drunk to fuck.
Too drunk to fuck
Too drunk to fuck
Too drunk, to fuck
I'm too drunk, too drunk, too drunk
To fuck.
I like your stories
I like your gun
Shooting out truck tires
Sounds like loads and l... MORE

I just posted the first two these deep in another thread. But I think they deserve a headline. Maybe familiar, but always worth another look.
First, the real deal And then with a Novelle Vague song And then some Novelle Vague on their own doing Joy Divison.... MORE

I just tried to post a long entry on "17 Days" by Prince and the Revolution, but the site timed out. I lost everything. Instead, I give you all this song in hopes you all become as severely depressed as I am. Of all of Nouvelle Vague's reinterpretations, nobody talks about this one. It's probably my favorite thing they've done. They plucked the bittersweet wistfulness right out of Visage's original and recontextualized it, and it sounds absolutely superb. When I saw... MORE

Last night I was at the Silverlake lounge, and there was a band playing that reminded me of Nouvelle Vague. I think it was the girl's voice. I wish I knew what the band's name was... they ruled. Anyway, that was the long-winded back-story behind how I settled on today's post: thrilling, wasn't it?
I can't listen to more than one Nouvelle Vague song at a time, or in fact more than one cover of another song at a time (okay, I'll make an exception with Johnny Cash, but he kin... MORE

I was wondering of a way I could share my love of cover tunes with the MOG masses and since my recent posts featuring covers by Björk and The Cardigans garnered more comments than others, I felt I'd found my niche... so here goes! The first cover I will share with you is from French band Nouvelle Vague. This is a really cool group that covers 80s new wave and punk tunes in a 60s bossa nova style. The tune they are covering is "A Forest" from The Cure's 1980 album... MORE

One bunny found responding to the name Shloopy and indie music. If you are the owner or know the owner please let us know. ... I find this photo so cute, that I'm using it as an icon. I don't know who to credit it to, so I'll wait for a response from the MOG team. In the meantime, here is a rabbit/bunny-theme playlist (add any others you like!): The Killing Moon (Echo And The Bunnymen cover) - Nouvelle Vague, _Bande a part_
Mad World (Tears for Fears co... MORE
