I’ve been to see a few bands so far this year (Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young, The Young Knives, Kunt and the Gang, etc) but too much time has lapsed for me to accurately report on said nights. Anyway, I did see Nick Cave last week and it was absolutely fantastic. I’ve been waiting to see him for a few years now and am glad the band were on such good form. Support came from ex-Bad Seed Barry Adamson, who wasn’t to my tastes to be honest. A bit too loungy. He played a couple of... MORE

Has it really been more than 5 years since Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds toured America? Well then this upcoming tour in late-summer is long overdue! That's right, Nick and Co. announced a string of live dates in the US with 2 stops in Canada starting in mid-September. It's being reported that Cat Power and Spiritualized will be along for the ride too, as Nick and the Bad Seeds support their newest release, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Here is the schedule, according to Prefix: ... MORE

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will finally return to the U.S. of A for a short September tour in support of Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!. Until then Cave will be impressing the EU with his whacky performances as well as singing his "No Pussy Blues" with the Grinderman at European festival stops this summer.
This June Cave will release a four square inch mini book about the making of the album's title-track. The book comes with a 3" CD containing "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!."

Nick Cave's new More News From Nowhere is fairly reminiscent of Deanna, albeit toned-down. And we loves Deanna.

MOGstars - 9/10 It’s been a busy few years for Nick Cave, he’s written a screenplay for Outback thriller The Proposition, appeared onscreen alongside Brad Pitt and dabbled with brutalised side project Grinderman. Returning to the day job, the imposing Australian troubadour and his ever-present Bad Seeds have produced this, their fourteenth studio album. Within seconds this is a clear return to the malevolent blues of previous outings. The title track slides stubbor... MORE

Nick Cave may be 50 but as new album 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!' shows he's still dark, scary and down right funny....

The new Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds album, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! is playing here at the office. It's so good that it makes it hard to concentrate on anything else. I'd been wondering what the next Bad Seeds would sound like after last year's Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds subset band, Grinderman, put out a raw and purile self-titled album about not getting enough sex, and this is not what I expected. There are Grinderman elements, but the overall record is way more pop-o... MORE

Nick Cave -- looking crazy awesome - leading the Bad Seeds through a stripped down version of Stagger Lee. The amn has serious charisma -- if he'd been around a few years earlier, I'm afraid he would have been a Vegas fixture, with a showroom named after him, a perma-tan, and a voice over encouraging those on the moving sidewalk step to the right when walking, and to the left when standing at the Las Vegas Airport.... It was only two days ago when we complained Nick Cave had ditched the US of A for a spring European tour. And today we hear the bad ass and his band of Bad Seeds will grace the stage as the main performer for the 2008 Plug Awards, which, in case you didn't know were held in the US of A coastal town of New York City.
Joining Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are St. Vincent and José González, as well as hip-hop act Dizzee Rascal. The awards show, dedicated to independe... MORE

I did the following interview with Nick Cave over the phone in 1994 for the now defunct Juice Magazine in Australia. He was just about to release Let Love In, still one of my favourite records by him. It's full of vitality, even joy or at least humour, in a typically skewed and erotically dark Nick Cave way. Our conversation was free and easy, almost careless at times. I'd been up all night before we spoke and was basically in a don't-give-a-fuck-who-I-am-talking-to-or what-I... MORE

First off I have to give credit to Sturgell for informing me (indirectly) about the new Nick Cave release. I like Nick Cave a lot. I have seen him every time he is in the metro Detroit area except for once (Lallapaloser in '94. Saw the first tour, excellent. Saw the last tour, sucked hard with exception of Moby, Jesus Lizard and Sonic Youth).
I have to admit to not being as stunned by his last several releases. They are good. But not taking my breathe away.
