We lost our Johnny last night. He was our Tess's boyfriend of six years and we loved him. He had had enough of this world and we are getting thru these hours, some how.If I am conspicuous in my absence, just say a little prayer for Johnny and Tess. .....
This is a statement from Neil Young. It says it all I think. A Song Alone By Neil Young No one song can change the world. But that doesn’t mean its time to stop singing.Somewhere on Earth a scientist is alone working. No one knows what he or she is thinking. The secret is just within reach. If I knew that answer I would be singing the song. This is the Age of innovation. Hope matters. But not hope alone. In the age of innovation, the people’s fuel must be found. Th... MORE
It's the summer of 1976 and I'm a 16 year old working as a construction laborer and it's one hell of a hot day. Suddenly I hear the first notes of this song and drop everything and head for the radio and crank it up. Instantly recognizable as a Neil Young song, I was thrilled. "old man" is a song that never loses its beauty for me. so many other tunes have come and gone but this one provides me with endless fascination. i guess that's what seperates the flavor-of-the-day/ flavor-of-the-decade from timeless.
this version from '71 is even better than the massey hall version that warner put out recently.
enjoy y'all!
And so winter is upon us in the biggest little state. In like a lion, I suppose. For those of us stuck inside tonight (and let's not forget tomorrow), here's a little winterous offering from Papa Neil. "Winterlong" I waited for you, WinterlongYou seem to be where I belong. It's all illusion anyway. If things should ever turn out wrongAnd all the love we have is gone,It won't be easy on that day. Waiting to followThrough the dreamlight of your wayIs not so easy for... MORE
Here's another selection from The National Lampoon Radio Hour's "Goodbye Pop" album. A good Neil young parody if ever there was one.
After completing his 2005 critically acclaimed album Prarie Wind, Neil Young and his band decided to play the Ryman Auditorium, known as the home of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennesee. This performance was filmed by Oscar winning Director Jonathan Demme (Silence of The Lambs, Philadelphia). The hook: Neil and his band had not played any of the songs live outside of the studio. There would be no second takes, this was the debut of the new album in its entirety. Did t... MORE
