It's the summer of 1976 and I'm a 16 year old working as a construction laborer and it's one hell of a hot day. Suddenly I hear the first notes of this song and drop everything and head for the radio and crank it up. Instantly recognizable as a Neil Young song, I was thrilled. "old man" is a song that never loses its beauty for me. so many other tunes have come and gone but this one provides me with endless fascination. i guess that's what seperates the flavor-of-the-day/ flavor-of-the-decade from timeless. this version from '71 is even better than the massey hall version that warner put out recently. enjoy y'all!
