Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones (born September 14 1973 in Queens, New York), known simply as Nas, formerly Nasty Nas, is a prominent American rapper. Up until this month, most of the folks who disapproved of Nas naming his new album Nigger were not "active participants in the culture". That changed when fellow east-coast emcee NYOIL spoke out against Nas for stirring up controversy with the title.
Rappers and their fans have been forced to talk amongst themselves about whether this album is a good idea or not. There are good arguments on each side, but NYOIL is firmly against the decision.

While we may have gotten a treat when a song off Nas' upcoming album leaked Monday, but today brings familiar news.
The new album "N""ger" has been pushed back for the 4th time for a myriad of reasons. Originally the delays were because "the album wasn't finished", but nowadays it seems more like politics. Def Jam is receiving outside pressures to change the title of the album before it's released.

Everyone feeling uncomfortable yet? Cool. That's the effect Nas says he's going for on his new album. This is the first song to leak from his controversial (and much delayed) album.
The last word we've gotten from L.A. Reid was that the album will be released in "May or June". However, keep in mind this has been delayed repeatedly for the last four months.

First, Maxim was taking heat for it's "educated guess" review of the Black Crowes new album before it was even released to the press. As it turns out, rapper Nas can one-up the Black Crowes. According to Page Six, Maxim gave Nas's new album Nigger a lacklustr 2.5 stars review before it was even finished. The new album from Nas has been "about to be released" since November, but it seems as if the day will never come. The original release date was mid December, but was soon pushed back to February because it wasn't done yet. The delays caused some to speculate on whether or not Def Jam Records were getting cold feet on the project.

While the story of last night's Grammy ceremony centers around Kanye West and Amy Winehouse racking up awards, the pre-show buzz belongs to Nas. The rumor that Nas could be dropped from Def Jam over the title choice of his new album was put to rest just as quickly as it started. Not even 24hrs after the speculation spread, Rolling Stone spoke to a Def Jam representative for an official word. “That is absolutely ridiculous and untrue,” said the rep. "There is no way that we can put out an album with that title. Many retailers have already told us - flat out - that they won't carry [an album with that title] ... Two unfinished Nas videos from his Street Disciple album leaked online today. It's unknown why the videos were never completed or released, but it's definitely not unfamiliar territory with Nas. His song Hustlers with The Game was shot, but eventually scrapped and didn't see the light of day until one year later. Hustlers was not released due to a dispute with the director, maybe there were similar problems with these?

All I been listening to is Nas, all day for the last week. He's one of the greatest of All time, without question. I keep on thinking what it would of been like if he released the original I Am... without the Nastradamus bullshit...then again there wouldn't of been Stillmatic.
