In North Dakota the thing that guides most people's musical taste is the weekly top 40. Not to say that music is bad, I just rarely ever connect with anything main stream.I don't remember how it happened and I couldn't tell you specifically what band it was. But somehow, in this city where rap and country rules, I found the music that fit me.There has never been another thing more influential and it is safe to say that music owns a quarter of my day. Sometimes more, but h... MORE
I love poppunk/punk/hardcore/scremo/emo/ballads/waltz/mazurkas/hardrock/softrock/acoustic/jazz/Elton/al capello, don't you? Motion City Soundtrack is simply amazing. It's so much fun to see how they've morphed from I Am The Movie to Committ This To Memory to Even If It Kills me. They'll be here in April and I'm waaaay excited to see them. Hard core nerd herd is here! [PS: revisit the albums Maybe I'll Catch Fire by Alkaline Trio and Bleed America by Jimmy Eat World. It... MORE

So I don't listen to a whole lot of "pop punk", persay, but on the random thought of "yeah, I'll listen to that while i get ready to go to work" so i put in "I Am The Movie" by the lovely Motion City Soundtrack. Finally I had to leave so I just put it in the car with me, singing along the way to work. Probably the best part of my nite was getting back in the car and driving home, windows down, music up, singing along at the top of my lungs to "My Favorite Accident" off ... MORE
Turns out that the show Motion City Soundtrack is playing in Nashville in July is at rocketown and is the same week as the one I'm gonna be up there for rock and roll camp. I've also found a few friends from school who would like to go, so alas, i might get to go and rock out.
score.
I know, I know, I'm from Minneapolis so I should know all about Motion City Soundtrack. But truth be told, the first I heard of them was from my best friend who lives in England. She's coming for a visit in November, during the same time MCS will be here, and practically begged me to get tickets to see them at The Myth. So even thought I know nothing about their music, I bought the tickets. I'd better get listening...
If you have never heard this band, please listen to the cd Commit This To Memory....I promise you, its one of the catchiest CD's you will ever hear.
My cousin just recently turned me on to Motion City Soundtrack and they're pretty much all I've been listening to. In my car, on my laptop, iPod-wherever. I know they've already broken through the mainstream, but good music is good music, no? Just really infectious hooks and cheeky lyrics. These guys are BAD! They're kinda along the vein of the Warped Tour type bands, but something really makes them different. It might be because they're just normal band dorks or something... MORE
