Well, I just went out and picked up the new Morcheeba at the local record store(yes I am old school like that). Anyone who is a fan of the previous Morcheeba albums because of the awesome voice of Skye Edwards might be somewhat disappointed. This album, unlike most previous works uses pretty much a different singer on each song. The result is great, albeit it is not the same as previous effo...
I have the habit of listening to my iPod on shuffle while I take the subway to work and I'm impressed by the mixes that the shuffle algorithm puts together. On the way today, the song Lighten Up by Morcheeba came on. It's a great song to start a long, hectic, stressful day. I had the song and it lyrics echoing in my head all day and it put me in a nice, relaxed mood. When this album came out, ...
This is one of my favorite cds ever. It's too bad that Morcheeba didn't continue in this acoustic hip-hop vein (their releases since this cd have been quite different - more like Jamariqui disco, than mellow acoustic hip-hop). "Love and Fear" is a particular favorite because of the lyrics and orchestration. I hope Morcheeba continue and release something more along the style of "The Big Calm...
God I hate NYC. It's a stinking filthy rat race that takes decades off of your life span. But there's still no other place like it, and whenever I leave I always miss the convenience of 24-hr diner deliveries and bars that serve after the 4am lastcall. I wonder how many other people share this love / hate relationship with their town. Grass is always greener before you smoke it I guess.Lately I...
When I was young (did I really type that?), I used to fall asleep listening to music. I don't usually do that anymore 'cause I tend to get a bit hyper, sing along, play air guitar etc.; in a nutshell, it gets ugly ;) I do still remember the songs that I used to listen to back in the day though, and if it's true that you absorb sounds during sleep, chances are I'm never going to forget them. Fin...
My last post had a track form Moloko titled "Party Weirdo". In comments soulrocket posted this;*Music press in the UK labeled them as the new Morcheeba back then (how imaginative!)... they proved them wrong after a couple of albums.*He was dead on with his comment. Moloko has evolved into something different and has indeed surpassed Morcheeba's sound. For awhile there (1995 to 2000) the genre w...
