Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band. They were formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington by guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, bassist John Wickhart, and guitarist Dann Gallucci . Modest Mouse is heading out on a late spring/summer tour with REM and the National. (On the indie front this tour almost compares with the mini traveling festival that is Kanye West's tour.) Just thought I'd fill you in. There isn't any new album they're plugging. Modest Mouse are still touring in support of We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.

I had my iPod on a shuffle of my Modest Mouse collection the last few days. I became a Modest Mouse fan with the release of Good New For People Who Love Bad News, explored Moon and Antartica shortly after, and bought The Lonesome Crowded West shortly before We Were Dead.. came out in early 2007. I bought four more of their indie releases after.
When We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank came out, it seemed "old" Modest Mouse fans were lamenting the "change" in their music... MORE

Twenty years ago, The Smiths and R.E.M. were just two bands that happen to come along and in part define a decade. Guitarist Johnny Mar, once with the Smiths and now with Modest Mouse, recently weighed in on his current group's upcoming tour with the legendary Athens, Georgia trio in the US this May.
R.E.M. is in promotion mode for their April 1 release of Accelerate, Marr says the prospect of joining forces with them is an exciting one:

Modest Mouse just released a animated and psychedelic new video for their song "Fly Trapped In A Jar". The video was directed by The Saline Project and it looks like the band is performing in a bubblegum world somewhere in Second Life. Wondering what to do for the 'Roo? Here's a little advice from a two-year veteran. DO try to arrive as early as you can. Not only are the car-inspection lines (yes, your car will be searched, albeit gently) on Thursday afternoon considerably shorter, but you’ll also likely be directed to camping much closer to the Bonnaroo action. Recently I moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Bakersfield, California (a small city in southern California). I played as DJ for at least half of the trip and my frieind drove the 4 hour drive. I brought along some Modest Mouse albums and he brought some emo/pop-punk stuff that really didn't do justice to the trip haha. Anyways, I popped in Interstate 8 by Modest Mouse and we listened to the whole album while driving down the lonely, two-lane highway in the middle of the night.... MORE

Okay so somehow, I've never got round to listening to Modest Mouse, despite lots of people telling me I'd love them and despite all my good intentions to 'do it tomorrow'.
Now I'm determined to sit down and give them a go, and see if I like them as much as everyone else.

sooooo... last night was the mistletoe jam sponsored by 99x atlanta radio station. and the lineup was pretty amazing..... the silversun pickups, the shins, silverchair, and modest mouse. i went with my friends molly, katie, kyle and bryan. also, we met up with pam (bohemianlullaby) and her boyfriend mikey. i was glad we met up with pam and mikey, cause they got there two hours before we did, and we sneakily cut in line with them. now, normally i dont condone that type of beha... Modest Mouse: A pretty good read.
I keep trying to find out what makes Isaac tick so i can emulate that. He is an amazing guy.
