Tonight was the first week anniversary of living in our new place. It's been bliss. Last night, we went on a dinner date to our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Pasadena.
Our dinner and a movie was a celebration of Michelle's getting a new gig during the fall semester at her grad school. She's excited.
Speaking of the movie, we went and saw the new Hunter S. Thompson documentary, Gonzo, at the Pasadena Playhouse. It was amazing. H.S.T. was one of my favorite writers. As... MORE
This post isnt for you. Cuase its a modest mouse song a B-side track. Called edit the sad parts.
Truely amazing. Modest mouse is god.
May 31, I had the pleasure of attending the R.E.M and Modest Mouse concert @ The Greek Theater in Berkeley. (Super cool venue by the way.) Opening was The National of which I hadn't really heard a whole lot from them. They kinda had a Coldplay feel to them. But I can tell you the one thing I was most impressed by was the instrumentals more than anything. Although I am a sucker for great musical talent. I think I counted a total of 8 people on stage all playing a differen... MORE
I had my iPod on a shuffle of my Modest Mouse collection the last few days. I became a Modest Mouse fan with the release of Good New For People Who Love Bad News, explored Moon and Antartica shortly after, and bought The Lonesome Crowded West shortly before We Were Dead.. came out in early 2007. I bought four more of their indie releases after. When We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank came out, it seemed "old" Modest Mouse fans were lamenting the "change" in their musi... MORE
i deleted it. it's gone. forever. the ironic part is that more people saw that than any of my other posts, and it was the most self involved and superficial thing ive ever written in my life. idk, it was lame. the situation, the way i felt, the post itself, it was all crummy. i feel better today, but theres always a dreary kind of feeling settled into my chest. idk, i dont think im a dreary person. anyways, this song is Dashboard by Modest Mouse. it's good, ju... I've never listened to Modest Mouse. No reason why, just never did.
Then I heard the album "good news for people who love bad news" and now I'm obsessed. I listen to this cd religiously. I can't get enough.
Shout outs the the songs:
Satin in a coffin
Bukowski
Bury me with it
but all the rest pretty much rock too.
LISTEN TO MODEST MOUSE.
Modest Mouse just released a animated and psychedelic new video for their song "Fly Trapped In A Jar". The video was directed by The Saline Project and it looks like the band is performing in a bubblegum world somewhere in Second Life.
"Fly Trapped In A Jar" is off their 2007 release, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.

Tony Hawk interviews Isaac Brock and Johnny Marr before the start of one of Modest Mouse's shows.
Hawk seems like a natural at the music journalist racket. Move over Lester Bangs!
Wondering what to do for the 'Roo? Here's a little advice from a two-year veteran. DO try to arrive as early as you can. Not only are the car-inspection lines (yes, your car will be searched, albeit gently) on Thursday afternoon considerably shorter, but you’ll also likely be directed to camping much closer to the Bonnaroo action. This beats a 15-20 minute walk from your tent to the stage. DO dress smart. Bonnaroo is held in June on a Tennessee farm with limited shade ... MORE
Recently I moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Bakersfield, California (a small city in southern California). I played as DJ for at least half of the trip and my frieind drove the 4 hour drive. I brought along some Modest Mouse albums and he brought some emo/pop-punk stuff that really didn't do justice to the trip haha. Anyways, I popped in Interstate 8 by Modest Mouse and we listened to the whole album while driving down the lonely, two-lane highway in the middle of the night... MORE
