I don't know how this happened to the song embedded in "happy friday" post... it got all sped up somehow, so this is what it's supposed to sound like:
Just a little something that popped into my ears and made them prick up attentively. Hope you enjoy:
Mirah "Don't Die In Me" from C'Mon Miracle. Saw her once in Sacramento at a teeny tiny coffee shop with Crystal in 2003.
I am quite frankly in love with Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn. I think she's the single best songwriter to emerge from this decade, and she's criminally underrated and overlooked. You can bat around as much as you want about her "cute" voice and dreamy melodies, but those words will cut your face if you aren't paying attention. In a critical pantheon of Lucinda Williamses, Joanna Newsoms, and Woods-era Sleater-Kinneys, Mirah is a forceful sigh of relief. After a year-long hia... MORE
Okay, okay, so I don't recommend songs of my own accord very often, but...I am now! I dj an internet radio show and was intrigued when I actually got a call-in for a song I not only didn't have, but had never heard of. So, of course, the very next day (which was today) I looked it up--and fell in love.I went about searching it on youtube and found only one video. Now, at first I was annoyed by the giggling, but by the middle I had even excused the fact that the video is si... MORE
it's true that when i saw her last week, the only song i wanted to hear was recommendation. it's my favorite and it was the first song of hers that i heard and it would have been appropriate i think. with all the drama of that day of actually getting to the show, i am willing to be the bigger person and look past the fact that she didn't play it. i forgive her. i've now become strangely obsessed with don't die in me. i have to listen to it like five times a day. i'm ... Before you left to go awayI wrote down what i couldn't sayI bet you read it on the roadWith foggy lights and fingers cool Now you drove so far but now you knowHow rough it is to let me goAnd let me recommend that you think twiceAnd i always give the best advice Now come on back to where you know i'll beLets' go sit under the apple treeYou can floor that thing, let the engine roarThe wheels they'll spin, the rain it pours And there's regret that you feelAbout the choi... So um, how did I never hear about this double album of Mirah remixes? Luckily now that I know about it I also found out the girl who got me into Mirah has it! So tomorrow I told her I'd trade her a date for a copy of it. Mirah has one of the best voices. Listening to "Lucky Little Shark" makes me want to make love to her. Ahhhhhhh...too much good stuff man, I tell ya! Oh and I got The Knife finally, thanks for the recommendation (sorry I can't remember who it was!) on ... MORE
and i would just like to say.. that mirah was not meant to be remixed. i couldn't even listen to all the songs on this album because i love the originals so much more.
I'm not sure I still understand the full concept of mogging. Or perhaps, Mogging? Does the word 'mog' need a capital M?
Of course, I could use my intuition and guess that the word is a combination of music and blog, but I could be wrong and or the answer may have been obvious.
Let's just finish this off, shall we?
For the past week i've been music deprived and slightly unhappy with my collection. So today I finally sat down and scanned my music, but ended up disapointed. After almost 15 minutes of pressing the next button and listening to tid-bits of unsatisfing songs I nearly gave up. But I hit next one more time. At that moment a long neglected song started to play, and I got that lovely feeling that i'm sure all of you moggers don't need me to describe. When Mirah's lovely stru... MORE
