Recorded live in the first theater where Nascimento sung professionally, this album has him and his expressive vocal qualities surrounded by a small band of excellent musicians: Robertinho Silva (drums), Hugo Fattoruso (piano/accordian), Luiz Alves (bass), and Nivaldo Ornelas (saxophone/flute). No grandiloquence or orchestral tricks, just the very Nascimento's sound, a mix of the purest Brazilian tradition and jazz influences. The album has several hits, like "Vevecos, Panelas E Canelas," "Um Índio, Luar Do Sertăo" (an old song that is almost an anthem in Brazil), "Estrada Do Sol" (Tom Jobim/Dolores Durán), and "Hello Goodbye" (Lennon/McCartney). The best song, without doubt, is the hot and swinging "Cançăo Do Sal," whose strong melody made it to be appropriated by such jazzers as Stan Getz.
