musical supermarket moment in movies #3

  • Artist:
  • Album:
Live in Amsterdam with the Metropole Orchestra, 12.2008
  • Track:
Senza Fine (with Sarah Polley V.O.)

No one ever thinks about death in a supermarket. It is a line from a movie I've had in my head for some years. Either the writer-director, Isabel Coixet, or the novelist, Nanci Kincaid, had written it.Ann (Sarah Polley), two kids and a trailer home at 23, finds out she has little more than a month to live and keeps it to herself. She sets out to do a list of things before she dies, such as make...

Mike Patton To Guest As Rikki Kix On Metalocalypse - New Dates!

Just a quick reminder to the Metalocalypse fans in the mogOsphere - as previously reported, Mike Patton will guest star on the BRUTAL cartoon in August. However, the dates have been changed to August 3 and 10. (The show airs at midnight on each of those mornings, so I think that's really like saying midnight the night of August 2 and 9?!?) Patton plays "reformed rocker Rikki Kix" according t...

The MovieWeb published a great interview with Mike Patton last month that's definitely worth a read by fans of his music or movie buffs alike. The interview focuses mostly on the voice work that Patton did for the movie I Am Legend, plus the music score that he composed for the upcoming movie A Perfect Place. (Patton is responsible for the creepy sounds that come out of the infected vampiric ...

Cos I'm Omniscient

I'm finally having an evening to myself and the stereo - sans wine, alas - and was flailing around to Faith No More's Live at Brixton Academy...a mediocre live recording, at best, but a servicable substitute for my copy of The Real Thing on cassette, which is still in some random box in my ex's mother's house.Hello, Jerry Springer.Listening to "Zombie Eaters" (a lot) was rather a formative expe...

MIKE PATTON DROPS THE HAMMER

Back in December we reported that Mike Patton would be scoring Crank 2: High Voltage, which, if the original Crank is any indication, is going to be more retarded fun than GI Joe, Transformers 2, and every other stupid summer action movie combined. The Playlist is now streaming a track from Patton’s score, “The Hammer Drops.” [...]

WHAT MIKE PATTON IS UP TO THESE DAYS

The bizarre career arc of Mike Patton continues with his latest project; the full soundtrack to the Derrick Scocchera film A Perfect Place. But the term "Soundtrack" does Patton's work here an injustice; this is a bonafide film score worthy of a broadway production, running the gamut from showtune to lounge to old-time swing. Metal [...]

If there were an award for being the coolest weirdo in music, I would nominate Mike Patton. Every time I buy a new CD that he has been a part of I think to my self, “Where the hell did he get the idea to make that noise?” His work in Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle, and Fantomas says it all.
