Special It's been a while since I've crowed about my favorite Danish imports, and by now most of you MOGgers are on board. I picked up And The Glass Handed Kites back in October '05 based on a review in Drowned In Sound, but had shelved it, and hadn't given it a full listen. One year later, I shuffled my tail to Lawrence and saw them open for Kasabian. Once I saw them play live, it all clicked. Now, this album is my happy-time music; it always bring... MORE

I am interrupting HHT for this announcement: I like Mew. I give up. I burned a copy of "And the Glass Handed Kites" to listen to in my car along with a bunch of other things the MOGsters have recommended to me, and it finally came around for me on a longish car trip a week ago. By the third song in, I'm thinking this is the most brilliant record I've ever heard, and then I realize, damn. This is Mew. Now I have to admit to Dale I like this over-the-top full-of-themselves bu... MORE

So as I added a couple more songs to my "Songs You Should Be Listening To" widget, I saw that the song "The Zookeeper's Boy" by Mew wasn't even in the Mog system. Well I just couldn't have that, seeing how incredible that track is. I know I've talked about Mew in a post before but well, if you knew me well, you would know that I love giving others the gift of Mew and writing about how great and how talented they are. "The Zookeeper's Boy" captures everything unique... MORE

Anyone who hasn't heard this Danish band cannot call themselves a true music lover. The opening track off Mew's third record "Frengers" is quite possibly the best written rock song since Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" or part of the best and most progressive rock record since "OK Computer." With the emotion of Jimmy Eat World's masterwork "Clarity" and the rhythmic animosity of a metal band (but with full control), Mew is making huge strides in alternative rock music. ... MORE

Went to check out Mew on Monday night here in Toronto. Didn't really know much about them. Had listened to some of the albums in preparation for the show. Noticed that a lot of MOGgers were singing their praises. For the paltry sum of $13 (Canadian!), I thought I'd check them out. All I can say is ... wow. Superb show. I was not expecting the level of professionalism of the stage show or the effect Jonas Bjerre's angelic vocals and stage presence would have in a live sett... MORE

I highly suggest going to see Mew and Oh No! Oh My! if their tour is coming near your area. I caught this show on Tuesday night and it was one of the best shows I've been to in a long time. I attached the tour card below, so if you live in one of those areas, go go go go go!... MORE

Here is my "yeah video!" this week. This is the Danish band, Mew. The song is "156" from the recent US release of Frengers.

From my boat I can see your house
And when the lights are on
I can watch you move
Hear the wind whispering your name
Twice the encouragement
Of the real you Callie if your really want me to
I can always get you down
If you got the money for me
Callie in the summerrain
You will be kept dry you see
If you got the money for me Making amends for distant wrong
Sincere
You can run away
leave your books behind you
but you should look back twice
just to be on... MORE

Finally, the day I've been waiting for! Frengers by Mew has been released in the US. For those of you that read my posts on a regular basis, you know that I'm a HUGE fan of this band. Please do yourself a favor and pick up this album and give it a listen. If you're a fan of Sigur Ros, Interpol, MuteMath, Muse, Placebo, Radiohead or other bands of that nature, I promise you'll love Mew! Leave some comments and let me know what you think if you've heard the album :)... MORE

I know this video has been posted before, but I'm sure that there are a few people out there who still haven't seen it, unlike the Ok Go video.... I wake up more mornings than not with this song stuck in my head. It's my 'shower and get ready for work' song. Again, thank you to the people who recommended these guys... Dale and AJ. 180 degrees the other way... Do you ever sing along to a song, get a set of lyrics stuck in your head then later check t... MORE

I am back. and quite excited about this fact. I was just in Florida for the Outback Bowl with my marching band, and it was a good time. we got to hear/see Tennessee's band, plus about a dozen (literally) high school bands. it was a good time - though, I still think our band kicked their bottoms. we're pretty much amazing. (I may be slightly biased). at any rate, much fun was had. but I missed MOG dearly. you know that old saying 'absence makes the heart grow fonde... MORE

I love this song. Sam showed me it then bought me the EP and its totally awesome. Some say that the guys voice is so bad, but I love it. And the video clip is pretty cool too. If you like Death Cab or Muse, you will like Mew. Basically Mew is Death Cab mixed with Muse :)... MORE

I'm new to Mog and I really love it. There's some interesting ways on here to find music that I otherwise wouldn't know about at all. I'm a bit of a music nerd and I have my tastes, but my tastes are quite broad. Too broad in many people's opinions that I can't can't like something. But I don't believe that's true. I detest popular music and what people tell me is good, let me hear it. Most of the time though if I know you and you say something's good I'll like it. ... MORE
