an omen occured, on my random play list, Metallica came up seven times in a row...fist the black album twice (don't tread on me, and God that failed) Sanitarium, Orion, The thing that should not be, and seek and destroy...killer list...give it some time before you think it ain't playing, the beginning has a volume pedal that slowly gets louder...

I know I'm often preaching to the choir about some the malfeasance of the Bush Dynasty, but this is apalling. Warning: This is a way technical and way music-theory-nerdy post. "Blackened" by Metallica is a left-brained romp through time signature land. What follows is a deconstruction of the song/review of Lars's drumming. This was accomplished through drumming along on the steering wheel in a traffic jam and rewinding and counting and drumming along over and over. One of the first "real metal" bands that I listened to. Master Of Puppets was the first album I bought (thanks in part to someone that mentioned it was their favorite album years before I listened to metal). ......And Justice For All was next on my list (I saw the title of the album carved into the desks at my high school). 'One' became my top favorite song. I then got the Black album. My initial thought when I heard the intro to, 'Enter Sandman' was, "What the fuck?"... MORE
