Following yesterday's news of Rock Band 2 featuring exclusive content from Guns 'N Roses, Activision has announced that Metallica's new album Death Magnetic will launch simultaneously in stores as well as on Guitar Hero III. There will also be a drums, vocals, an guitar version of the album for the fourth installment of the Guitar Hero series this fall. This isn’t any new news but I saw that it was missing from the mog-o-shpere and I wanted some input.

Since May Metallica have been airing Death Magnetic studio footage via their subscriber site MissionMetallica.com. Still no specific September release date has been given for the Rick Rubin-produced album, but Metallica has revealed (and this is what was missing from the mog-o-sphere) that it will be coughing up the first in five years in three different versions.

Am I the last person on earth that hasn't been sucked into the wildly addictive "Guitar Hero" craze? Following in the steps of Aerosmith, Metallica will receive their version of the popular music video game. There's no word yet on which specific songs will be included, but the group certainly has tons of material to choose from. Metallica's version of Guitar Hero will hit store shelves in the first quarter of 2009.
