Back in the mid-'80s, in pursuit of a story for Rolling Stone, I road in the van with Black Flag to Las Vegas, where they were playing a gig in a building that we were told was normally used to shoot porn films. Opening for Black Flag were the Meat Puppets. I'd never seen them before, and they blew me away. A lot has gone down since then -- with me, with the members of Black Flag and with the Meat Puppets. Finally...the Kirkwood brothers have gotten together to record some new music. 'Rise To Your Knees' reminds me of their glory days, circa 'Meat Puppets II' Its a really, REALLY good album...well worth picking up. Here is one of my favorite tracks off of the brand new one
