Gee there's been a few tours announced today. In what seems like the final one for the day, Maximo Park are bringing their rocking shows back to Australia. They were last in the country back in March 2008 for the Playground Weekender festival to support their second album 'Our Earthly Pleasures'. The follow-up to their Mercury Prize nominated debut album 'A Certain Trigger', unfortunately didn't...

Maximo Park Confirm Trio Of Dates In UK

Newcastle alt-indie-pop collective Maximo Park have had a pretty decent few months if we're honest. They released their newest record Quicken The Heart earlier this year and though personally, we weren't willing to digest an entire LP by the English gentlemen, it still managed to hit the Top 10 and they've so far played some pretty energetic shows across the country on their earlier 2009 UK tour.

Maximo Park Offers Reward For Stolen Guitar
6 months ago

Prior to the bands back-to-back shows at the Newcastle Academy (which kicked off last night) one the bands guitars were stolen, stalling the gig and obviously infuriating the members. Guitarist Duncan Lloyd was the unlucky member to whom the guitar belonged to and to make matters worse; the guitar happens to have an awesome history.

T in the Park: Maximo Park get a little Idlewild

Forget T in the Park's Fancy Dress Friday, Maximo Park singer Paul Smith is nattily attired each and every day of the week!On this occasion it's a fetching lilac suit topped by his trademark bowler hat - well, if that's what it is, I'm not the best educated in the headwear of yesteryear - and Smith looks quite at home on the Main Stage on Friday evening."Maximo Park, we are T in the Park!" he e...

Maxïmo Park say Let’s Get Clinical

i’d like to map your body out inch by inchMaxïmo Park - Let’s Get ClinicalMaxïmo Park have always held a conflicted place in my heart, and it’s not just ’cause of their dumb spelling. When I lived in Shanghai they were the only western band that ventured that far East and therefore I loved them [...]

ALBUM: Maximo Park - Quicken The Heart

ALBUM REVIEW: Maximo Park - Quicken The Heart words: Matt McDonald The previous effort from this Newcastle quintet, 'Our Earthly Pleasures', was critically panned by all except The Guardian, which is little consolation. The consensus appeared to be that Maxïmo had lost their touch for writing the killer choruses. There was no 'Apply Some Pressure.' Despite this [...]

Nijmegen Gives Warm Welcome To Maxïmo Park
about 1 year ago

The original Dutch review can be found on www.internetkilledtheradiostar.blog.comIf there was one thing that everyone knew, it was that the venue Doornroosje was too small for Maxïmo Park. But whereas in other fields "too small" has a negative connotation, to say that about a venue is quite a compliment. And a really big compliment when it regards Maxïmo Park and Doornroosje, because it is very.

Our Velocity ..I love punky/pop love songs such as produced by 1970’s Buzzcocks, and this is the direction Maximo Park has moved towards with their 2nd album, Our Earthly Pleasures. ‘Girls Who Play Guitars’, ‘Our Velocity’ and ‘Your Urge’ all move along at a snappy, tuneful pace, regaling us with tales of dodgy, about to break, relationships. Unlike many of their UK contemporaries (A

_I sleep with my hands across my chest__And I dream of you with someone else__I feed my body with things that I don't need__Until I sink to the bottom__Don't act like it came as a surprise__Don't believe me? Then look into these eyes__This can't go on so I should just__Regret it, regret it__And even though I led you on__Forget it, forget it__I'm going missing for a while__I've got nothing left ...

Blog post image preview

I just realized that I’ve passed my sixth month of participation in this grand thing we call MOG. I don’t want to make a fuss. No presents, please. But I thought it would be a good time to take stock. It’s kind of odd that I’m even here. The social networking aspect of Web 2.0 - and the general hysteria that accompanied the rise of myspace.com - seemed a little on the desperate side to me.

Going Missing..The five-piece Maxïmo Park formed in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear in April 2003, their name adapted from Maximo Gomez Park, a Havana meeting place for Cuban revolutionaries. Singer Paul Smith was discovered by the at-the-time-girlfriend of drummer Tom English in a pub while he was singing along to a Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". Having found someone with a stage presence, they star..
