We'll dispense with the usual bullshit: chances are, you're already familiar with Mastodon. They've been, inarguably, one of the most important metal bands of the 21st century thus far, and a band that we pretty much revere at MetalSucks. We recently got the chance to interview bassist and co-vocalist Troy Sanders during some pre-show downtime at [...]~~
It's my understanding that Mastodon's Blood Mountain was a concept album much like Leviathan was. I say "it's my understanding" because I have no fucking idea what they were going on about. I mean, I get that they were looking for crystal skulls and yadda yadda, but once you get into that whole Lord of [...]
Haa, well Mastodon really went for it with the first Crack The Skye clip. In a Progress Report they told Jessica the album would be a "combination of 'brutal,' 'fucking' and 'epic,'" and that the record would be "dissecting the dark matter that dominates the universe, in a nutshell." The Roboshobo-directed "Divinations " video hits all the beats: the band goes mountain climbing to unlock the a...

Hey all, its been a while since I’ve updated this blog. We’ve been super busy over the past few months, most recently with the tour we just finished with Mastodon and Kylesa. This was without a doubt one of the most awesome tours we have ever been a part of. I’d like to publicly thank [...]
[Writer and musician Tres Crow comes to us from the excellent blog Dog Eat Crow, for which I just published a Halloween-inspired list of The Top 5 Goriest Metal Album Covers of All Time. What follows is an incredible piece of creative writing written by Mr. Crow based on Mastodon's Crack the Skye. The first [...]
Hello chums. I haven't been around as much lately, but this new MOG has got me moving around the mog-o-sphere a bit more. I've been enjoying the new "My Feed" section. Much easier to keep up on things than worrying than notifications clogging up my inbox, which sadly would, more often than not, would result in mass delete rather than actually sifting through them all. Also the "My Status" thin...
Despite my growing concerns for the metal genre (who will take over the reigns of the metal world), I am happy to know that Slayer is releasing a new album slated for late summer. What I am most impressed with is Tom Araya's ability to belt out vocals at his age (he's almost 50), like he has for the past 2+ decades. For those of you that are TRUE metalheads and if you aren't up to date, Slaye...
Anyone who has ever heard of my cousin's band, Beauty's Confusion, they are realeasing one more album.http://www.beautysconfusion.net/If there is anybody out there that is a fan of trip-hop/electronica style of music, or just open minded, check them out.
This metal opus borders on progressive, which to many metal purists is a kiss of death. But they mix enough groovy licks and touch on the old thrash-punk just enough to make you scratch your head. There are too many style influences in this to be able to call it derivative of anything.you can get this from eMusic:http://www.emusic.com/album/11015/11015915.html
