Mastodon fans at Bonnaroo next weekend will get the first preview of new music from the band! Drummer Brann Dailor says they just can't wait any longer. Mastodon have recorded 5 songs for a new album which should be out by the end of 2008. The band is recording in producer Brendan O'Brien's Atlanta studio where "there's so many toys to play with." Dailor spoke to Billboard about the album which he described as "real creepy and spaced out and different." He also said: ... MORE
I've seen this now on Blabbermouth and The PRP (from which the following text is taken): The recent rumors of Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds being assaulted in Las Vegas, NV following his appearance at the "MTV Video Music Awards" this past Sunday just may be true with the bands management recently issuing the following statement:"Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds suffered a severe head injury after his performance on Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards ... For Those in Minnesota I strongly encourage you to join me in awe and amazment. Mastodon, Against Me, and Cursive are playing at The Myth. Cool little known fact about The Myth, you can smoke. Even on the dance floor. Guess who's bringing the weed!
HIGH FIVE!!!
Probably the best rip on those "Let's all go to the lobby" videos that used to play during intermission at movies. It's hilariously animated. I wish I could've found a video. You can look for yourself, but all I could find was a crappy hand-held video from inside the theater. Blech. You'd probably just be better off scampering to the nearest movie theater and dumping your money on the ATHF movie. This might be one of the best soundtracks to a movie ever. I'm not r... MORE
et more rock artists have been confirmed for this year's Download festival. The three day rock festival that takes place at Donington Park from June 8-10, will see Grammy nominated prog metal group Mastodon and Scottish alt.rock group Biffy Clyro added to the now mammoth line-up headlined by My Chemical Romance, Korn, Marilyn Manson and Iron Maiden. Mastodon’s Brann Dailor says why he's looking forward to playing: “Download is one of those festivals, It rules. We’re fr... MORE
Here lately, many bands who used to have a clue about writing songs seemed to have hit their heads or something, because it seems like they've forgotten how...But Mastodon, now here's a band that has not forgotten. In fact, they are making up for a lot of bands that just don't know how to write music. 'Seabeast' is a perfect example of Mastodon's prowess at song construction. They start with an insane melodic intro, then launch into the song headfirst. Using very unorthodo... MORE
Hows Remission?
Leviathin and Blood Mountain are in HEAVY rotation on the Jupebox at the moment.
I haven't been excited about a Metal Band in a long time!
Long live the DON!
A true masterpiece. Both Musical and Metallic. I like it so much that after I listened to it twice in a row, I just wanted to support the band and bought my wife a Mastodon girly T online. I never do that.
These guys are the real thing. Long Live American Metal.
Its quality, its abit mad, and it takes a bit of getting used to, but after a couple of listens at a very high volume its AWESOME
Mastodon rocks. That's their motto and they do. They are a mammoth act (pun intended) and they deliver bigger than life performance with style, virtuousity and power. Not only do they talk the talk, but they walk the walk, should I say swagger. This is one of the best, and most intelligent, metal bands going. There are brains with the brawn, and brawny and thunderous they can be. They can also be subtle, dynamic and with the twin guitars intertwining in gothic filigree the... MORE
(Gotta love the Randy Rhodes drum kit) Mastodon laid waste to Webster Hall on Friday night and I had the privilege of being in the house to witness the devastation first hand. They dropped an absolutely amazing set on us. I was really psyched that they included so many songs from Blood Mountain, the new shit sounded really great live. I'm pretty amazed that songs like Capillarian Crest and Bladecatcher can even be played live, but they nailed every one. Hearts Alive made... MORE
Not that I mind being first, but I'm shocked that I'm the first Mogger to comment on Mastodon's Blood Mountain. Full album leaked on the net a few days ago and pretty much every music geek I know has been foaming at the mouth for it ever since. Don't know what to say besides HOLY SHIT. This album CRUSHES. It DESTROYS. I really didn't know what to expect. When you're anticipating an album as much as I was Blood Mountain, it is so easy to set yourself up for severe disap... MORE
