Michigan’s Mason Proper is a band that can move mountains by breathing softly. The group’s sophomore album, Olly Oxen Free, bristles with a ghostly ambience that the members acquired after a streak of misfortune on their 2007 tour. Marching onward despite a slew of destroyed equipment and several wrecked vans has infused the band with the charmingly weathered, well-defiined, and insistent quality that they proudly wear today.

Yesterday the brand new record from Mason Proper finally hit store shelves! As I told you guys on Friday, Olly Oxen Free is a straight up solid rock album from top to bottom that could wind up being your new favorite record. i've tried posting this twice now, and twice now it's rearranged the entire mog-o-sphere page. i feel very powerful (and also stupid) to be able to accidentally break an entire important page like that, but in the name of civility i'll delete this if it does it again. Last night we ended up booked at a bar in a small town in Indiana we'd never been to before. When we arrived, we immediately knew something was amiss. Something screamed, "Mason Proper doesn't belong here." Maybe it was huge glowing "sports bar" sign.
