I'm doing a second cover post today only because no one's posted anything from Mark Lanegan's wonderful covers album I'll Take Care Of You (1999). This oversight must be rectified. My world got changed last Thursday. I saw Mark Lanegan sing in person. It was fucking effortless. Less is so much more.
Revolver here - is the song they opened the set with, but do yourselves a favour and get his new(ish) side project called Soulsavers. A simply wonderful album of dark gospel.
The cover of the Stones' No Expectations is probably the only Stones cover I've heard better the original. I know that's extreme but fuck me, this record has affected my psyche.
Well...I think I mentioned that I went to a wedding last weekend in Amish country up in Northeast Ohio.
I just got a text message from the lucky groom...word for word it said: 'Marrying Beth was the biggest mistake of my life...call me when you get a second'
Nice...six days into the marriage...and the regret has hit him square in the teeth.
How about a dark wedding song then?
If I could have any rock star's voice, I think it would be Mark Lanegan...hands down...and Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys would be a close second...
