Mark Knopfler: Get Lucky (Reviews)

The former Dire Straits guitar god continues to expand his sound, with an enjoyable, mellow collection of ballads, blues shuffles, and Celtic folk songs.Like a college student to free pizza, music critics often seem to experience an intense magnetic pull to compare any new Mark Knopfler solo release to his work with Dire Straits. As time has passed, however, that comparison has proven less and ...

Another Saturday morning, sitting here browsing and I took a listen to Mark Knopfler's new CD "Kill To Get Crimson" it's a great effort by one of the most skilled musicians in the industry. I will post a song from it in a few days. But I noticed a SEVERE lack of selection on MOG from this gifted musician. Excellent album from Mark Knopfler. Full of narrative and wonderful storytelling. A CD that's just gets better with each listening. Not a bad song in the bunch. As always superb guitar playing, with other musicians adding sax, flute, and organ. He weaves his magic throughout by fully fleshing out the characters in the songs. "I wonder if there's no forever No walking hand in hand Down a yellow ...

It is really hard to pick a favorite song from this wonderful collection, but I've found I've played this one much more than once. 'In The Sky'-home from the sea, far away from here, weathered a storm, part of the fray, crossed every ocean in the boat that you made.
