I don't know what I was doing but somehow I missed Margot and the Nuclear So & Sos peformance on Conan a few weeks back. They performed an amazing rendition of "As Tall As Cliffs" off of their recent dual album release Animal/Not Animal . Here's some thoughts I had while watching. First - damn that's a lot of people playing on that stage/floor. Imagine if they played the Sidebar . Second -...

As expected, this has been a busy time for New and Used Records. Tomorrow, we release the third of our four releases for this year, and we still have two more CD release parties to go. The days have been filled with email sending, blog posting, envelope stuffing and blog responding. It is always fun though to receive a "Google Alert" informing me that someone is writing about one of our band...

Photo via MySpaceI have a feeling October 7 is going to be a good day to visit your local record store. Margot & The Nuclear So And Sos have released a first sample of their two upcoming albums, Animal! and Not Animal , both due out on October 7. What's the difference? Besides the former only being available on vinyl and the latter on CD (in addition to digitally for both), the band's My...
On the heels of their excellent session with The Laundromatinee and performance on Conan O'Brien , Margot & The Nuclear So and Sos absolutely blow my mind with this rendition of As Tall As Cliffs . Our friends over at La Blogotheque are pure genius. Beautiful work. They're also joined in the performance by David Vandervelde and Judgement Day . If you haven't checked either or both out...

This is the third time in a month that I've been more than pleasantly surprised by the opening act. Take a walk with me ... come on, amuse me :)First, the Annuals, who opened for the Kaiser Chiefs. They blew the roof off the motha, even with the crappy distorted sound (reviewed previously). Then I head to a smaller, way more intimate venue & stumble into Jenny Owen Youngs at a Gary Jules show...
As someone unfamiliar with Margot and the Nuclear So and So's previous song catalog (I know, I should have done my homework), I cannot attest to frontman Richard Edwards' assessment of Margot's dual sophomore efforts as a rawer, noisier and edgier follow-up to 2005's the Dust of Retreat. But I'll... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit the MCMB website for full links, free music, great videos
You know what I'm talking about: someone, somewhere in the M-O-S mentions a band, and while you don't immediately go searching for their tunes, the name sticks in the back of your mind. Then, weeks/months later you come across the band's music and kick yourself for having waited so long. This happened to me last night with Margot & The Nuclear So and So's. *Listen:*"Quiet As A Mouse - mp3":http...
Wanted to share the very reason why this site that is so near and dear to all of us has infiltrated its way into full-time with me.....so I find myself always on the hunt for that new band that I can gloat about hearing for the first time, and go run to tell everyone I know how they have to hear this band, absorb them, and make them everyday....like a belt or something(although most of the time...
I got to see Margot & The Nuclear So and So's last night in SF at Cafe du Nord.SO GOOD, omg it was sooo good. They started out on sort of a weak note (Jen is bringin' the drugs, which is one of my least favorite songs off the album) but I was glad they got it out of the way and went on with the good shit. They did a little encore, too. Paper Kitten Nightmare complete with the meow meow meows...
Ahh... a lazy Sunday. Currently watching Alice In Wonderland for the second time with my wee gal before we tackle the playground and some duck feeding.BUT. I'd be remiss if I didn't profess my undying love to a band that's new to me: "Margot & the Nuclear So and Sos":http://www.margotandthenuclearsoandsos.com . Holy crap, this album will help me write my new work. It reminds me of many of ...
